Any functional difference between 32bit and 64 bit?

I was having issues connecting my new laptop to my ST unit and customer service suggested downloading the 32 bit version as they've been having issues with the 64 bit. Even though my computer is 64 bit should i care that i have the 32 bit version? I obviously dont know much about CPU's. Any reason to care?

You shouldn't have reason for concern running the 32-bit software on a 64-bit cpu computer. There is a lot of software that runs that way. If you look in "c:\program files (x86)" you'll see a good list of them. Microsoft Visual Studio (program development) is one of those that still running as a 32-bit program even when you can output with it executables that run as 64-bit (seems kind of funny to me). 32-bit executables are smoothly handled by the 64-bit OS.

thanks for the reply. So no noticeable speed/graphic issues...? Not to be pedantic, but why shouldnt there be some give between the two as that's the reason for having them both? If the argument is it's completely unnoticeable I guess i can buy that.
