  • SkyTrak with iPad Pro Cellular

I had been using my SkyTrak with an iPad Air in an outdoor set-up. I had been connecting the iPad through a mobile hotspot in order to utilize network mode with SkyTrak and be able to use E6 and WGT.

in order to simplify things I bought a iPad Pro 12.9 with cellular connection so I wouldn’t have to use a hotspot anymore. But now I can’t figure out how to connect my SkyTrak in Network Mode. Direct mode works fine but it will not recognize that I am connected to the internet (via cellular) and therefore I can’t use WGT or e6.

Does anyone have experience with this set-up and know how to properly make this connection?

    Thanks for any help.

I spoke with SkyTrak Commercial Support and they understood the issue. They said there would be no way to connect in network mode because it must use a WiFi connection for data. So for that I's be left with using my phone as a mobile hotspot again.

They did say that there may be a way to do it in direct mode using features in iOS that automatically use cellular data connection instead depending on data coming from the WiFi. I tried the WiFi assist but that did not change anything.

Not sure if this will help but found this https://youtu.be/qI1t2f4wBb8. In settings under cellular - you can turn cellular data ON - that's supposed to use cellular data along with wifi i believe. also would it help to use the iPad as the hotspot? Don't have this setup, only ever used USB connection to PC, just throwing some ideas out there. Hope you get it working.

The video seems to imply you can connect the iPad via USB with an adapter but I think I've read somewhere that doesn't work.
