  • First Impressions after Setup

Hi everyone. I have been waiting for a few weeks and reading to decide which sim I should get. In the end it came down to space requirements and the fact that I could get a used
ST here in Portland at a great price for $1600 with metal cage and less than 1k swings.

I finally got everything set up and it would not register my swing although I did notice after a shot the light would turn red then go back to green. Long story short my unit was set to
high and when I fixed that it started to work so I am finally good to go.

I am excited to jump into all that it offers in the Game Improvement area. I got a welcome letter with a link to a video gallery which I was hoping would help explain each module but the link is dead. I spoke with support and he said search on youtube. But typing in Skytrak brings up everyone elses videos and nothing from the company itself. I asked if there was any information explaining what each module does and how to take advantage of the GI but he just said to contact chat on the site.

I find this insane that they great such a valuable tool but then don't explain how to get the most out of it! Any suggestions would be appreciated. It looks like Bag mapping and then skills assessment my be the best places to start and determine what areas need work and then practice from there. I look forward to hearing you ideas!

    Thanks
    Mike

So a little update. I called and chatted with support at ST multiple times to ask multiple times about finding documentation and/or videos showing me how to use my new $2k unit and their software. They said the is no documentation but there are videos and they sent an url. However there were no videos on that page. Then I called again and they said they were there. I found the first link worked but no others worked. I called a third time and finally someone there after looking into said they had taken them down for now. So I basically ripped this guy a new one because all he could recommend was check out youtube videos from 3rd party reviewers and users. I felt that this was total BS when I have to figure out for my self how to be use each and any of the features. Well 4 hours later the videos are back up. I guess I made my point. I am not sure how good they are but I will check them out. Still would love any feedback from the forum on the best approach to getting the most out of the software for game improvement.

The practice, bag mapping, and game improvement is so basic and self-explanatory I just can't imagine calling them 3X to look for instructional videos.

Have you actually just tried these things?

Map your bag, swing at some targets, choose random ranges for targets.. I'm not sure how one would even make an instructional video on such basic features.

Yeah I’d just start using it. There are some basic icons and within each part options that are useful. My favorite is the randomized within the practice range. You can set a distance range and within that range it gives you a distance each shot to hit.

I’ve found the whole thing to be very intuitive and easy. The only thing I found tricky was the WiFi setup - as I recall for some reason the unit didn’t recognize special characters to get into network mode so I needed to change our router password. My wife was thrilled.

If it makes you feel better, Foresight doesn’t like to support devices sold used or help with 3rd party software. Seems to be a hobby that requires a lot of DIY. Fortunately there are great folks who collaborate online and have posted good info and willing to help.
