  • Optishot to Skytrack experience?

    Hey guys,
Would anyone like to share their experience going from an Optishot to a skytrack ?
I have had Optishot for 12 years and absolutely loved it and have improved very much .
I plan on getting a skytrack with TGC2019 in the near future.
I know many people didn't like Optishot and think its a toy .
I'm more interested in the golfers who have had a great time with theirs and upgraded to Skytrack .
    Setting it up ?
What about score difference ? Real ball vs. Foam ball hitting, online play, practice, tournaments , TGC 2019 ?
cheers and thanks for any input.

I found this video informative concerning using foam balls: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iC1vSFW1-44. There are several videos comparing the Optishot to the Skytrack (haven't watched though).

I had an optishot for about a year before upgrading to skytrak. While I had the optishot I pretty much played locally with my father and played some of the tournaments. We had a lot of fun with it once we dialed in the clubs for distance, biggest problem was it not reading my fathers clubs sometimes so we had to start taping them up. I never felt like I could truly practice with the optishot, my outside game never changed while using the optishot but it was fun to play.

When I first got the Skytrak I would have swore there was something wrong with it as my inside game was complete crap. I believe I was suffering from inside swing syndrome even though I've been swinging inside for awhile with the optishot. anyway after many many hours of practicing with it and adjusting my setup I started getting better with it and my distances came back to normal. After having it a year now I can absolutely say I am getting better, I have picked up 10 - 15 yards across all my clubs and better yet what I see inside translates to my outside game. I have a huge yard that is contiguous with a couple relatives and we have our own Golf course (6 Holes, multiple Tees) and one section of it I use as a driving range, I used to go out and practice 3 - 4 times a week after work, but since having the skytrak I pretty much stay inside because its so accurate and I don't have to worry about the weather or go find golf balls. Hands down the skytrak was one of the best purchases I've made.

I really like TGC2019, its where I spend most of my time to be honest, and just like real golf I'm better on the range than I am when I start a match, haha. The online societies are fun as well as local play with friends. Also playing live on discord is a blast. Most people say they shoot about 10 shots better on tgc2019 than they do in real life but ai haven't found that to be the case, In my case I am a short ball hitter and I don't usually play long courses so my scores are similar to real life a lot of the time, none of that really matters though because the societies use your handicap so it all evens out.

I would suggest getting a good mat, I started with a CCE but developed a lot of elbow pain so switched to a fiberbuilt and haven't looked back. for a tee I use birtee, I've found black and blue to be the best colors. - Ball position for wedges just in front of red dot, fairway woods just behind red dot, Driver maybe an inch behind red dot and every other club on the red dot.

I was fitted for a new driver last year using a GC Quad, and distance and spin numbers pretty much same as what Skytrak gives me so I know its accurate, not saying its as good as a GC of course but at its price point its good - there are some misreads and no reads here and there but for the most part its not much of a problem.

I don't think you'll regret getting the skytrak, it is a real launch monitor that can help you get better and have fun doing it.
