Anyone else have to align the unit to the right to get the alignment dots to line up?

I turn on the alignment indicators....and put down an alignment rod....and adjust until the lasers are both hitting the rod exactly in the center of the rod........this get's rid of any radar over spray on the ground.....you will get two neat little dots.......BOOM....there is your target line.......and it seems to be dead on......yes my shots won't register with the indicators on as well.....no biggie deal......my 11 year old son hits most of the shots and hates when the alignment indicator is on.....very distracting he says....and I agree.....when playing you don't have an indicator out in front of you on the course.

If you look at the second photograph, the alignment stick on the mat is parallel left of the true target line, as measured by SkyTrak shots, which is also parallel to the SkyTrak unit, but the laser dots are way left of the measured target SkyTrak is using in its calculations. With no balls on top of the laser dots, it's much easier to create a line projection onto the range targets. Unit is pointed way right of the target the laser dots point to, and the unit direction is a much more accurate representation of the true target line measured by the SkyTrak. Hope that helps.Originally posted by Bubba22 View PostTrip, I can't tell much from your pics. Dd you read my post above ( #6 in this thread)? Use 2 balls to align the lasers and Targetline. Laser must hit e same spot on both balls. Do that and see how it looks,

By design (not sure why), no shots will be recorded until the alignment dot is turned off in the Session Settings. Unfortunately, there is no warning to that effect above the alignment toggle (Seth?), but that is how it works. It's helpful to know, so you don't frustrate yourself, while diagnosing why no shots are being recorded, after turning it on! ;-) Been there! Done that!

You know,.I actually wanted that feature too! Unfortunately, it's not possible because the laser interferes with the image processing.Originally posted by dt2511 View PostPossible this is just me, but if i leave alignment mode on, the skytrak doesnt register any shots. It'd be great if i could also hit balls when alignment mode is enabled.
Do others have this same issue? Is there a reason that the skytrak doesn't register shots while in this mode for a specific reason?

Since nobody can examine the images taken when you use talcum powder I guess the answer will be yes it might. A test you can do to give you an indication is following.
Use a red laser that points towards the target and passes on the left or right side of the ball. (between the unit and the ball depending on if you are a lefty or righty) Hit a shot and try to see if the laser hits the talcum dust cloud after you hit the shot.
If it does and if the cloud spreads more than 2" in front of the ball position, then it's highly likely going to affect at least the first laser line.
(you can't see the Skytrak laser lines since they are IR)
if you have a camera that can see IR then you can use that and record a shot and see how the unit IR light reacts with the dust cloud.
Almost all normal cameras have an IR block filter so you can't use those.

Thanks for the input on powdering. The powder is placed on the backside of the ball, so the right side facing the cameras should be powder free, unless there is lots of side spin, but during and shortly after the actual powdering from the bottle, the laser beam is clearly shown. I usually wait until the beam disappears before swinging, but some powder clearly is in the air after impact.
How is everyone else monitoring face impact on the driver? It's one of the most important components of a golf shot which is not measured by SkyPro or SkyTrak, but is recorded by higher end devices.
