  • SkyTrak app working on my iPhone 6 Plus

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that I got the SkyTrak app working on my iPhone 6 Plus, which is awesome since I can return the iPad I bought just for the SkyTrak, and it since I had the iPad Mini 3, my iPhone 6 Plus is much faster and smoother. It also happens that my data was actually synced to SkyGolf 360, which only happened once for me before, and I have gotten it to sync multiple times today. It will also make it much easier if I want to take my SkyTrak with me such as to the driving range, so I don't have to carry a tablet with me.

Here is a video of me using my iPhone 6 Plus with SkyTrak: https://youtu.be/jSVibf5Jbl0

If anyone wants to learn how to do this, feel free to ask, though it does require some work. There is another app you can use though on your iPhone as well.

HTTR can you take us through quickly how you do it after the iPhone has been jailbroken!

This is awesome! So it does have to be jailbroken?

I'm assuming the principle is the same for any iPad app on the iPhone? I'd like to able to run the GC2 monitoring software on my iPhone to save me carrying an iPad when I take it to the range.

Hi Seth, I had suggested this before also when Skytrak first came out. There is really no reason by SkyTrak can't work with iphone. Is there any reason why you guys won't submit the app to Apple as both iPhone and iPad compatible so we can install it on an iPhone also?

HTTR are you going to give us some details on how this is done? Sounds like several folks would like to go that route.

Ok so I finally made a video and it is linked in this post and also in the main post in this thread (EDIT: nvm, I can't edit it anymore); I would appreciate if this video helps you, you possibly 'like' the video and subscribe, not forcing at all just if you would like, and if you have any questions also post them on the comments section of the video just because I feel any question that will be asked someone else may have a question so it will be easy if they are all centralized there:

This video shows you how to convert any app that is only compatible with the iPad to the iPhone. Link to video that shows the iPad app I converted in the vid...

Thanks for posting the youtube instruction. As Bubba suggested, one would have to jailbreak the iPhone to make skytrak app install, which would void the warranty on the iPhone.

I'm not an iOS app developer, but isn't the only thing Skytrak has to do is to submit its app to Apple as both iPad and iPhone compatible? Can't imagine this taking too much time or effort on Skytrak's part. Why Skytrak hasn't been willing to do it doesn't make any sense. It would be much easier for me to just use my iPhone with the Skytrak when I take it to the driving range, rather than having to carry my iPad too.

I did first of all mention that it would have to be jailbroken, however do note that a simple restore will put it back to factory settings and Apple would never know, and I've been jail breaking since the first iPhone, this isn't illegal and its very simple, and honestly unless someone went into files they shouldn't and modified them, it's almost impossible to mess up the iPhone even if it's jailbroken, just wanted to point this out before anyone who isn't tech savvy gets the wrong message from your statement.

Also as a software engineer, they have to make some changes to the app since the screen isn't perfectly native for iPhone screens in some parts of the app and there are other things they'll have to modify as well.

Thanks for clarifying, So the current Skytrak screen doesn't fit well on the iPhone? It's hard to tell from your screen shot above. I have some apps that run on both iPhone and iPad, and as you suggested, some of them were clearly desgined for one but not the other. Some iPhone specific apps looked funny on the iPad, the dimension and resolution seemed a little off; however, that usually doesn't affect the functionality. I don't think Skytrak has the time or resource to come out with an iPhone customized version soon, but maybe just to make the current version available on the iPhone anyway for those of us who are willing to live with the screen limitation. Really we'll only be using it on those rare occasions when we don't feel like carrying around the iPad. It would also be useful for those who don't want an iPad and are still waiting for the PC and Android versions.
