  • SkyTrak and The Golf Club (TGC) Simulation Software

Hi Seth. I'm new to this forum but have been reading as much as I can about SkyTrak on this and other forums. It seems that many experienced sim users think that The Golf Club game is the best simulator software out there right now. In fact, if I'm understanding and remembering things correctly, Bubba22 and Zmax were instrumental (please correct me if I'm wrong) in getting ProTee to integrate their sim hardware (and gc2) with The Golf Club software. So my question to you/SkyTrak is simply this: Has there been any thought to integrating SkyTrak with The Golf Club? And if so, what are the odds that this might happen? And if so, when?

  • What's wrong with the default ST range that ppl want a TGC range?

I never use the default St range anymore because my iPad doesn't display in full screen on my TV (edges are chopped off). Use the e6 range (using a pc connected to the TV over hdmi) for true full screen. I find the e6 range had more features anyways.

Nothing at all, but for 1000 bucks you might have expected something.

So much for not making a fuss. Pick which software works for your needs and embrace it. Protee has multi coloured shot tracers and range stats. Maybe that is for you.

I wouldn't say ive made a fuss, i just enquired. I will buy either TGC or PG, but i think TGC is the only simulator software without a fully fledged range.

Can't imagine that when you own a beta product with beta software, you still want to add more beta software and pay for it.
Well if it makes you happy go for it!

But they had no problem running everyone's credit cards for the full amount the day we ordered. The more I deal with this company, the more I realize how unethical they are.

Putting a full charge through with a pre-order on something is essentially unheard of. For example, when you pre-order an Apple product, they put a pre-authorization on the card, but you are not charged until the item actually ships. Same goes for Amazon, and pretty much every other reputable retailer. These S-bags billed me for the full amount almost two months ago, and the projected release date has long come and gone.

With the sim projects this far delayed, I'm going to hold out for the release of the Ernest Sports ES16 in early January. If initial reviews look remotely promising, the Skytrak is going on eBay.

Once again, I really feel bad for people who bought computer parts back in the spring specifically to build a sim machine that have been forced to sit on the hardware.

Give you a sense of the customer service for SkyTrak Japan: I ordered, received and brought back my SkyTrak steel protective cover and they have still yet to charge my credit card. I am emailing them to make sure they charge me. Their service is impeccable even if you have not bought (can call and they are super helpful and knowledgeable about their product, always responds to email inquiries in a few hours, was honest with me that before their version of GIP was ready would be free to all and will be one-time cost only when ready so didn't want to charge people when wasn't ready, super helpful in explaining not only their sim packages but also difference between U.S. and Japan SkyTrak in particular the firmware, etc.). But of course service in Japan is always good...

doublebogey, I'll tell you what kind of bugs me the most. About 3 months ago when you were getting a unit for you dad and you got it from skytrak japan. Remember SkyTrak_Seth, saying to be patient that good things were coming soon and not to jump ship. Well here we are 3, maybe 4 months later and we still don't have any multi-player sim options.

I'm lucky being in the pacific northwest that I'm still golfing 2 to 3 times a week, but that window is closing soon and there's nothing slated for release anytime soon. I've lost all faith in skytrak/sporttrak/skygolf.

You wonder why there isn't a flood of used GC2's out there, this is why. I thought skytrak would compete against GC2, but it's turned out they are more so competing against ES14. I hope they release multi-player sim and I'll gladly eat my words and fully apologize. Honestly though, I don't see anything coming out before 2016.

I hear you luv2golf, but unfortunately nothing is perfect - Japan SkyTrak a closed system (you're locked into their XSwing Golf sim software though pretty good sim software but no choice for other sims - that's Japanese companies for you always vertically integrated only) whereas U.S. SkyTrak is an open system (though so far only open for WGT and a limited E6 demo that can't putt). I guess different strokes for different folks - I had firsthand experience of the frustrations w U.S. SkyTrak and knew that my father-in-law won't be able to handle that and just needs something that works so he's happy w his Japan SkyTrak (and still cheaper than GC2).

In meantime hope U.S. SkyTrak comes thru soon w their promised deliverables - only regret I have is I actually didn't even seriously considered used GC2a's when they were selling for ~$3k and didn't really think and just went ahead w buying my SkyTrak (because in all honesty earlier in the year the SkyTrak hype in the market was phenomenal - and I don't think anybody that bought earlier in year thought we would be in this current state).

Well like you since I already own ST just waiting out a bit (only 2 months before we find out what ES16 will be all about) and hopefully then will be able to make a more informed decision on next steps, and in meantime hoping ST gets its act together (coz again I still think Rapsodo built an amazing unit so don't want to see SkyGolf/Sport-Trak fumble it away w poor marketing decisions).

    • No offence, the TGC course screenshots are great but at present TGC does not work with Skytrak.

Please let's have some info on when/if it will ever be realised. Thanks

      • I played 18 on the e6 demo today. It was fun but I couldn't help but wish I was playing a round on the TGC sim tour.

Now that we enter the holidays I have little confidence anything will get done until 2016. Which is unfortunate, if someone wanted to sweep the rug out from under skytrak now would be the time. Unfortunately this market is newish and slow, and I'd guess profit margins aren't amazing. However if the es16 was priced right with good sim partners immediately I would bet skytrak would be in a tough situation.

        • Have been watching the forums here a lot for 2 or 3 weeks and had about made up my mind to buy a Skytrak but it seems all opinion has been going very much downhill as of late. I have been thinking more about the GC2 even with the extra money it would cost but would have liked to have saved 3k or more with the Skytrak. I need the PC version and seeing that it has not even been fully released yet is not good either. What are most owners opinions now the way things have been not progressing lately?

Golfer13, yes, alot of confidence in skytrak was dropped as of late. Most of it frustration that no Sim Multiplayer Game play is released yet. I didn't buy my skytrak to use a driving range, I want full Sim Play. So yes, we are all waiting.

That being said, this was just posted, waiting for the download.........http://www.skytrakgolf.com/download

Now that being said, there's E6 Demo with 1 golf course and a descent driving range.

Also, be aware that yes you'll pay more for a used GC2. But it's proven and has TGC already available.

        • I wonder if this would run TGC without issues... LOL!!!

Yeah, with that PC, you're still probably lucky to get 40 FPS..haha! Probaby still have to reduce detail.

Haha, the irony is that this PC can't run TGC as it doesn't support multi-card setups. So yeah, 40 fps is a pipe dream at max settings once you've taken out the other two graphics cards!

I'm still a proponent of the SkyTrak. I expect the 2.1 software (including the PC version) will be released very soon because of this:

The only question that remains in my mind is when will "real" sim software be available. If all of this software was currently available, I think there would be no question that the ST is the best value for a ball-measuring launch monitor that has simulation options.

I agree 100%. The major question is .............WHEN will we have multi-player sim play??

        • I have just been trying to make up my mind before the Nov 30th special runs out, not that I really even want the WGT. Would like to see a special with the TGC before then. I know Seth had promised something around Thanksgiving was happening.

Don't hold your breathe on this month, maybe this year, but who knows. Nobody's saying anything.

        • Awesome! They have a Coming Soon add for Skytrak PC 2.1 version on their site! It's been quiet for a while. So this is the first piece of good news from Skytrak. That should mean very soon if it's posted on their website!

They probably were waiting to deploy the PC app version with updates before they release TGC.

I only hope this new version fixes the PUTTING ISSUES OF PUSHING THE BALL RIGHT! But I would think a firmware update is required for this. So wondering if the PC version is only PC app update or if it also includes a firmware update.

Well that is great news. It's good to at least see progress even if it's slow. Now if they could ship out the damn protective cases they would almost be in my good graces.

        • FYI Everyone. On the bottom of the Skytrak it has those three tiny screw holes. If you want to balance it get three #4 metric machine screws. Try different lengths to fit your desire. The three screws make it easy for me to balance my Skytrak that is sitting on a piece of granite. Works like a charm!
