Seth you might want to double check the statement that driver shot distance calculation has not changed between 1.8.5 & 1.8.6.
There is a lot of feedback stating the opposite. I noticed it as well but did not think much of it at the time since a swing change can create the same effect. After playing a lot of rounds in real life I also noticed that pretty much all clubs from 8 iron and up are longer in real life. For a time now I just assumed this has to do with the turf and conditions difference. But I ran some tests this week on iron and wood shots from tee. E.g. when ball is on a peg. What I get in yards on Skytrak I get in meters in real life. Not a very scientific test in terms of determining the actual error but it's clearly a difference and it's not trivial.

I can say with great certainty that nothing has changed between 1.8.5 and 1.8.6 regarding distance. I just walked in and hit a 161 yard 9 iron on 1.8.6!

I have my first tournament of the year this Saturday and Sunday. Haven't been able to play in a few months because of work but been working on distances with skytrak and bending irons to get yardages I was wanting. Played a practice round today and was pin high all day. My skytrak seems to be very accurate for me. I use a digital angle finder to level unit to within 1/10 of a degree and put black line on balls and face towards the unit. I always adjust altitude, temp, and humidity to same settings. Even with my driver it seems very accurate, I get a 260-265 carry with it and today had a 250 carry over water tee shot and cleared it by about 10 yards. I always use direct connect and never use network mode. Not sure if that would make a difference though. I've had 6 other very good golfers come over and they say it seems to be accurate to with a few yards for them with all clubs. Maybe I got lucky with my unit or my room setup, but I'm very happy with mine now. Has gave me tons of confidence standing over the ball, I don't second guess the shot now.

I can add, just used 1.8.6 today and my 8i was as expected 157. And 5i 183. 9i the usual 144. Default temp, altitude and wind (too lazy to bother every time to change - feature request!)
          Seems fine to me.

I just tried an experiment, even though I am at sea level, I set altitude to 5000ft. I can't explain it but yardages for PW (typically carry 120yd, ST showed 115yd , 8i (typically carry 150yd, ST showed 145yd, hyprid (typically carry 190yd, ST 185yd); all were all within 5 yards and no progressive short yardage on longer clubs.

Got my new unit the other day. I have spent some time hitting. I still believe the distances are off. If I swing out of my shoes I can hit my 6i 165 but if I swing "normal" I am around 140-150. I went to golf galaxy the other day so I could use their gc2. I did not hit my 6i but I hit 5 other various models...90% of all shots were 165-175. Ball speed and swing speed were slightly more than ST but not crazy. I also went to our club pro today to get a lesson. I was hitting my 6i 165-175 the entire lesson. I did not hit any shots 130-150 like skytrak is telling me. Am I to up the altitude settings until I start seeing my yardage range? Seems odd to do that. I also swung my driver into my net at home. I can say they were my best swings but I never got over 175. In "real life" I hit 250. Swinging indoors might have affected me some but that seems like a big gap. I am going to take the ST to the range one of these days so our club pro can hit on it to see what he says. He is a +2 so he is pretty good This is pretty frustrating. From reading the earlier post,s it sounds "more probable than not" that other people are seeing similar results...Had to get a good cheatriots jab in there.

Agree that I don't see any significant distance difference between 1.8.5 and 1.8.6. Compared to versions prior to that (eg. 1.8 or earlier), I do see a difference. Again, it seems to affect longer irons more so than shorter irons. The longer the iron, the more the distance loss. Again measurements don't seem all that different from prior. It makes me wonder whether the new algorithm is making lower spin shots travel shorter than the older algorithm.

I just received my unit a week or so ago, so I can't speak to versions earlier than 1.8.5.

I'm also seeing extremely short results. PW shows around 80-100 (125yd club), 7 iron 120-130 (152yd club) and 6iron 135-145 (164 yd club). I was vigilant last night and made sure the unit was level and even with hitting surface and also adjusted the altitude settings. My results got much closer with 7 iron 138-142. I'll try to level again tonight with a better level since last night I used my phone.

Noticed that there seems to be a penalty for any shots right of centerline.

*NOTE: I hit my Callaway HX foam practice balls and they seems to work perfect. My yardages are actually much closer to real yardages than using real balls. Could draw and fade a ball as expected. Not sure what would happen off of 6+ or driver, but works great with 7-PW.

I was using random old found balls from my bag. I was really surprised by the amount of spin with Taylormade Penta TP3. With a PW, I was seeing 12k rpm. At first I thought it was a fluke but it was quite repeatable. ProV1 can in between 8-9k and topflites around 6k. Makes me wonder if it is picking up spin wrong for that ball. Dimple pattern???

I also seem to have better results early in a session, at least with 1.8.5. After 15 shots or so, the Ipad Air would take forever to record a shot and sometimes wouldn't, even though the SkyTrak seemed to pick up the shot.

Actually the opposite. Longer irons are still a tad longer than the original algorithm. Just for a sanity check, I went in and hit three 6 irons cold...198, 204, 210. A normal swing has me around 200.

Is it possible the recently discounted units are behind the slow shot display and shorter iron yardages. I like the unit and really would like to get to the bottom of the issue(s). I am more than happy to go through the hassle of returning in exchange for another unit to see if that is the problem.

Is it something related to new units? Two post (me and SRB165) received our units in the last 1-2 weeks. Maybe it is not the software. Also getting extremely slow shot display. It is taking 25 seconds to display the shot. I am using IPAD 3, not other apps running except ST. I also tried direct versus network mode. Any ideas?

I talked to tech support. IPAD 3 not compatible, does not have the processing power and most likely the result of short yardage and slow display.

Add me to the group that is getting results that are a shorter than real world, with a unit purchased over the last 3 weeks(scratched unit) . As an example i hit a PW 140-150 yards. I have to swing like a madman to get it to 125-130. I am using my Iphone 6+ but I would not think that would have anything to do with shorter yardage. Will continue to do more testing and leveling.

I just got my hitting bay set up in the garage with the truestrike mat and a perfectly leveled and aligned skytrak. I hit about 50 shots all with my PW and my longest carry was 116.The average was about 109 yards. I normally hit my PW 125+ carry on the course. I am a little frustrated because I was getting more accurate distances at the range with the skytrak when it wasn't leveled properly. Tomorrow I am going to post some screen shots of my session And maybe some of the more experienced guys can help me make sense of the numbers. It seems like the better the ball I use the shorter the distance and the higher the spin. Around 11,000 rpm with a pro v1. The cheaper balls are closer to my normal carry and rolI that I would see on the course but both carry and roll are still way short. I am also getting negative roll 8/10 shots which never happens to me on the course. I also don't understand how my ball speed is slower than my swing speed on a well struck ball.

Please someone help Me make sense of these numbers.
                    Thank you

I'm starting to think the speed and flight algorithm are correct but the spin is 20% too high. If I take my numbers and put it into flightscope optimizer and reduce the spin by 20% I get the numbers i'd expect.

When I try and upload the pictures it says they are too big. I am going to have to use Dropbox or something.

I just took 10 shots with my PW and a ProV1x.

                          AVERAGES:

                          CS: 92
                          BS: 85
                          LA: 28
                          Back Spin: 10,145
                          Side Spin: -1973
                          Carry: 101
                          Roll: -2
                          Total Distance: 99

Again these were the averages of the 10 shots I just took With my pw. I usually hit my PW about 135 yards. Something is way off.

any insight would be greatly appreciated Bubba I really don't want to have to buy a GC2.
