I've only had an ipad 1 day so my testing is limited, but I was getting a high percentage of unread shots like maybe only 1 or 2 working out of 10. my balls are 'almost' balls and are pretty beaten up but even with those once I started to place the laser dot at the equator of the ball and not at the base it was reading all of my shots. I'm not sure what the official documentation says for ball placement but for me that seemed to be the cure.

I just started having the sam problem. I was previously a very happy user. I've only just started to use 1.8.6 so i'm going to rollback to 1.8.5 to see if that it.
I was getting problems >75% of the time this morning, from the same location and setup i've used for 5 months now.

        Ok - somethings fishy.
I reverted to 1.8 and setup with new Nike balls in the usual position. 9 / 10 shots registered
I upgraded on the iPad to 1.8.6 leaving everything in place and i got exactly every second shot registering. 5/10
I'm going back to 1.8 (never thought i'd say that...) it's pretty unusable with only half the shots working,

That has to be a coincidence, but very strange even so. There was absolutely nothing changed regarding how the image processing/software picks up the ball. Is your unit charged? Just so you guys know, the ball sits ON the laser dot.

I get similar behavior to this when sunlight is bleeding through my garage windows. Sounds like you already ruled out lighting though...

Well I just mailed mine back today. I was convinced it was a defective unit, but who knows. I would love to try another one and most likely will, but I think I will wait until the leveling stand/case is released because if it's that sensitive to the height/angle, I'd like to use the official stand from Skytrak. It was just getting annoying flushing a 4 iron and then seeing the shot wasn't registered.

I did always place the ball on top of the red dot. I tried moving it around just to see if it made a difference but still no luck. The unit just sat on a piece of the mat same height as I was hitting from. I never took the time to put a bubble level on it, so like I said above if that is the issue then I will just wait for the stand.

I also didn't have much luck with the customer service rep for sky golf. I do understand its a new product and they may not have much knowledge with the skytrak yet, but they never did call me back for trouble shooting she they said they would, so I just decided to return it for the time being. I did however get plenty of help on these forums so Seth I do appreciate that you come here to help us and keep us informed on the latest. I know now next time I irder one to just continue coming here for trouble shooting!

I've had issues when connected thru network mode with a few shots not registering. My wifi signal from router is pretty far away and is weak. In direct mode I might have 1 out of 100 not register. Only problem I really have is I use a lightning adapter to hdmi to project on a TV. If I touch the connector or move the iPad the app will shut down. I just use a touch pen instead of my finger and make sure the iPad never moves. And my iPad runs really warm when using lightning connector, I just set a small fan up blowing on it now.

Yeah. I use a repeater for wifi and wondered if it wasn't dodgy connection from the device to iPad. I may try the direct connection and then use the hdmi out to my project and see if that helps

My latest thoughts on unregistered shots are around small movement in the mat / skytrak platform. Details here to save a duplicate post - http://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum/...7177#post37177

Hmm interesting. That could have something to do with my setup as well, although it doesn't really explain why it picks up more wedge shots than long irons.

Probably less movement with a shorter swing?

OK my new mat is in place and i've hit 50 or so balls - not a single ball went unregistered, previously with old mat the number of unread shots was >50%. So for me movement in the mat is critical.

I can confirm that this is the case for me too. I had my matt up on froam workout tiles, and previously was using a homemade stand to level the unit. For some reason last week i added some new tiles underneath the unit instead, and attached them to the main tiles under my mat. This cause the movement and the unexpected mis-reads of shots. I've gone back to the level unit instead and it's much much better now.
Worth a mention in the FAQ me thinks for others to see. Since this unit might be used in many more places than a traditional expensive Sim, others will have jury rigged setups like ours.
Or, the software issues a small onscreen reason for the mis-read, so the user can see "Blurry Capture" or some such note.

Does this mean that mats like the true strik pe (I think that's what it's called) are not recommended since the hitting part moves a but to simulate a divot ?
