    Loving my skytrak

I had problems when first purchasing my skytrak. I pre ordered and have had it since they first released them. My ball speeds seemed low with drivers, they have slowly gotten back to where they have always been. Guessing swinging indoors was hindering swing. I play a lot of tournament golf and spent most of the winter working on yardages and distance control with each club. I have a bending vise and altered lofts and lie angles to get distance gappings good and ball flights how I wanted them. I've only played 1 tournament and a few extra rounds this spring but have noticed I am pin high with most shots. Only time I'm not is when hitting from the rough. Tons of confidence standing over shots now knowing exactly how far ball will carry with clubs. I am amazed at how far people on here hit the ball. I am very consistent and carry my driver 255-258. Depending on fairways I'm usually in the 270-280 range unless it's very wet. I play to a scratch handicap and that's mainly to average 34.5 putts per round. Can't get the ball in the hole. If I was a decent putter I'd drop at least 3 strokes from average.

Having now used Skytrak indoors and at the range I must admit the accuracy of the ball flight exceeds my expectations. Every type of shot I hit was represented accurately, skulls, thins the lot. Not a single shot was misrepresented. So well done Skytrak this is a great device.
I used a Bushnell laser to verify the ball distances and I would say the full yardage is short and more noticeable on longer shots, the carry looks to be about right but I think its the rollout that isn't long enough a ball travelling at 130mph is going to roll more than 18 yards when it lands - more like 50 imho. My longest of 9 drives was 215 yards (my real average is 240), but I'm not concerned by this at all its really minor. Whats important to me is that when I hit shots in the garage the shot shape is accurate and because of this I can have meaningful practice sessions.
      Thanks Skytrak!

Have you tried changing it to firm in the app seeing if you get a bigger bounce and roll out ?

I am fairly consistent with all clubs, might be 3 yards short or long of my stock yardage on normal swings. I only look at carry distance, I don't care how far they roll. I make sure altitude, temp, and humidity are always the same setting. Guess skytrak just fits my ball speeds and spin numbers very good. I launch most all clubs at about half the loft of the club. 60* wedge launches at 30* angle. And irons are the number on the club times 1000. 8 iron gets 8000 back spin. I've always been told the algorithms are kind of based off these launch parameters. Glad because my skytrak is dead on accurate with all clubs so far. I have actually changed all my yardage books I use to match my skytrak distances. First tournament of the year for me was the best two days of distance control I've ever had, but spent too much time hitting full shots and didn't practice short game. Putting and pitch shots killed my scores.

I agree this bad boy is accurate as all get out......I also only use the carry yards. We feel like we robbed the bank.......I would love to have all the club numbers......like path......face to path...smash Factor etc......but my word those units are over 8k used. What common man can afford that?! I looked long and hard at units for over 7 months and did all kinds of research. No doubt there is some other good technology out there......but bang for the buck this ST is amazing. I was very skeptical when I pulled the trigger.....but SO glad I did. I see a lot of junk on here wanting PC and Simm stuff......but my word people as is this unit rocks!!!! I hate to see all the complaining especially with the value that ST already provides!!!!

As long as ball going where you want with correct ball flight and distance I don't care about club path or any club data. I wouldn't care if my 5 iron went 160 yards, as long as it goes 160 yards every time.

Why do you say wanting PC and sim software options for Skytrak junk?

In your opinion, but this is highly debatable. A lot of folks want club data as well. Not sure why one wouldn't want both club and ball data.

I'm glad you are happy with the skytrak and more importantly, you didn't return it before demoing the unit. I 100% agree with you about the carry being pretty spot on but the roll being way short with all my clubs.

I just got fitted for some Mizuno JPX 850 forged irons and I can't wait till they get here so I can play with my skytrak again, I'm going through withdrawals. 😂

I agree with you that the Skytrak is an incredible tool and is great value for your money as is. However when you add simulation to the mix it takes the skytrak to places previously unimaginable unless you wanted to pay 10 grand. Not all of us live in Texas and have a big enough property to hit 75 yard shots without a net. There is something magical about playing the 7th hole pebble beach in your garage or basement while getting nailed by a terrible rain/snow storm. If you knew how long these companies have been promising simulation you would understand the frustration some users feel. I am new to launch monitors and simulation and even golf for that matter so I am just grateful it is coming.
I have a feeling when you get a little taste of simulation especially TGC you will retract your simulation "junk" opinion. If you think you robbed the skytrak now, just wait until you see what this thing can do when paired up with proper software and you aren't hitting balls in a cartoonish driving range.

I was fitted on a track man a couple days ago and holy hell is all that club data useful. It made my skytrak feel like such a toy and not a training tool. Having all the club data really helps with the mechanics of the swing and is tremendously valuable. In a perfect world I wish the skytrak had both but I could buy 10 skytrak and still have money left over for some lessons with the price of a TM. Also a huge bonus for residential use is not all of us have a 20 x 20ft area in our home and the fact skytrak literally needs no extra room is amazing.

Club data would be nice but for me if the ball going where I want and distance I want I think seeing club data would make me what to change my swing. Everyone wants the perfect swing but I think a natural swing is more repeatable. I'm lucky and have no swing thoughts once I get my setup correct. I pay attention to alignment when standing over the ball and then just think slow wide takeaway, but after that I just think hit back of the ball. It works for me, I've tried going to coaches and being more mechanical with my swing and I couldn't make it repeatable. I would spray the ball left and right. It's hard to get around a course when ball going both ways. A double cross usually equals penalty strokes.

Glad it works for you kieth. Like I said, everyone is different. Using club data doesn't mean developing a perfect swing like Adam Scott. It can simply allow one to understand their club path and face angle flaws that may be leading to errant shots. Most instructors use club data in their teaching. I have a home made swing that led to a 71 at my home course yesterday. I use the ProTee club data to correct things when I am off. But let's not make this thread abou club vs ball data. I agree with you that th Skytrak is an accurate unit that will help one improve through home practice for sure.
