ipad mini overheating

I've been enjoying using my SkyTrak and everything is working well, with about 4 to 5 seconds of lag time to report the shot using a regular white ball. However, I'm having overheating issues with my iPad mini 2. It will get pretty hot running the app, and on sunny days after 30 minutes of constant use the iPad will alert that it is overheating and shut itself down.

Does anyone else have issues like this?

Yea I've had this happen to me at the range too, but I've also had this happen with a galaxy phone in the car while on a mount on the front windshield to use it as a gps. I don't think it has much to do about the skytrak at least as it is just those iPads and phones just are not a fan of direct sunlight when any program is running on your phone.

Yes avoid direct sunlight and if you have the iPad in a case it's worth taking it out as it will cool better

Also dim the screen as low as you can with still being able to see it.

I've not noticed the heat issue but the battery on my iPad air 2 goes down really quickly, like from 100%-0% in 3 hours or so, it runs out faster than the SkyTrak does. I do run it in Network mode though so imagine the iPad is pretty much running at it''s limit, so can probably be expected.

That's good to know, I wonder if it's specific to using something more underpowered like the mini 2. Even on cloudy days with screen dimmed and caseless, the back of it is really hot to the touch.

My old iPhone 5 used to get mad hot when I was using it to tether, which is probably similar workload and think that used the same chip.
