  • Network Mode completely stopped working???

Network Mode on my SkyTrak has completely stopped working. SkyTrak unit top 2 lights stays red and bottom green. App keeps trying to look for connection even if I try to manually choose Network Mode - before if I did this it would go a screen showing WiFi network and password for the network but now it does nothing? I have made sure my iPad is connected to home network.

Anybody had this problem and any insights on how to fix (other than the same old delete app and re-install - which is getting a bit tiring)?

Direct Mode works ok so that's what I have been using (and since I have never been able to sync so Direct Mode ok for me for now).

I really can feel for others on this forum complaining that we really paid $2k for a beta version of the product...

To me it sounds like you hooked it up to a router once and now it remembers that router and is looking for it. Middle LED = RED means it can't find it or password or something changed.
Have you tried reset? (center brass screw at the bottom of the unit has a hole and at the bottom of the hole there is a push button you need push and hold for a while until the LED's start flashing yellow)

By the way all my previous connection problems are gone. Bought a new router (Linksys EA6900) and placed it closer to the garage (it's 8 meters away now)
Connect in network mode, when you are done turn off ST unit and put iPad to sleep while the app is running. Then the next day turn on iPad and then the ST unit.
Wait a while for laser to turn on and then fire away. Since the iPad app never got shut down all the settings are still there. No more setting up parameters etc ...
Still think the app has a long way to go before it's considered good, but cursing frequency has gone down a lot.

So if I just reset the SkyTrak unit itself (do not have to uninstall and reinstall app), all my shot history in my app will not disappear? If so, perfect and will try! Thanks.

Never bothered with shot data so I don't know but my guess is nothing will happen with the shot data.
I assume you need to restart the iPad app, but that should not affect the data

Thanks for the advice davray666 but resetting the SkyTrak unit didn't work. Guess I need to also try uninstalling and reinstalling app to make app forget my old network mode data (that might have gotten corrupted?).

Guess all these problems users on this forum are experiencing are coming from the app/software developed by SkyGolf (not the hardware itself which is developed by Rapsodo Golf in Singapore)? User on another thread actually bought the Japan version of SkyTrak and claims that with Japan SkyTrak "Bugs with App or network problem is not an issue at all" and they already have sim option with course play and even mode for club fitting plus great English-speaking international customer support!

A while back I had the same problem where I had to make the unit forget an already defined router log in. I asked here on the forum and Seth from Skytrak told me how and it worked. Unfortunately I might have forgot some of the details and can't find the post with the answer. But I still believe the router log in data is stored in the Skytrak unit because when you turn it on middle LED will go yellow when it connects to router. That is even if the iPad is OFF.
The way these embedded WiFi modules typically work is that they go in to a softAP mode when there is no router around that they know how to connect to. That is when you can connect with the iPad to the unit AP. As soon as you program the router name and password it will find the router and never enter AP mode and you can't connect to it as an access point.

So just to be sure. Did you turn on the ST unit, wait for it to boot, then while it's on. Press the reset button and hold it until the LED's turn yellow and then release the reset button?
That should clear the programmed router name and password. If not then I have no idea how you would reset that. There is no menu or anything else.

doublebogey, did you ever find a solution to this? I'm having the exact same problem that network mode has completely stopped working and the only thing that has changed is, I had to reset my router and when building a stand/protection for the Skytrak the unit fell onto my hitting mat from a height of about 2 ft when transfering it. I've gone through all the posts on this thread and the thread davray666 linked in post #7. However when I reset the Skytrak (all lights turn yellow) it doesn't "forget" the network and I still can't connect or get it to even come out of network mode so I can direct connect. I've also deleted the app and reinstalled, it just continually searches for the connection. Anybody have any thoughts? Am i SOL til the PC micro USB connection and simulator software comes out? I'm not sure what to do at this point. Thanks in advance.

You've reset the unit so that all lights turn yellow and after rebooting, the middle light continues to flash? Also, when you reset your network, it may have rest your password.

Yes I've reset the unit so that all lights are Yellow and as soon as i take the paper clip out the top light stays red and the middle flashes red. I've checked my network and the password is the same.

And does it just continue to flash red? Never goes solid? Never goes yellow?

Just keeps flashing red.. I've let it try to connect for 5-10 minutes and it just continuously flashes red and is unable to connect.

Crazy, I have never heard of that. Let me check with the hardware team...

Thank you Seth, it had been working just fine up until two nights ago and I haven't been able to connect since.

jjkoolman, I did what davray666 suggested which was to reset the SkyTrak unit itself and uninstall/reinstall app (seems like you did both already?) and managed to get network mode back - and since then have stopped using direct mode (in fear problem comes back again) and have stuck w only using network mode since.

Sorry not much help - hope Seth can help you solve your problem. Could it be because of the 2 feet fall you mentioned?
