  • Phantom Reads with Skytrak and Fiberbuilt Grass Series

I have skytrak launch monitor and a fiberbuilt 4 x 7 grass series hitting mat (https://fiberbuiltgolf.com/products/...-mat-4-x-7-gs2). This has the performance turf for the stance area and the grass series hitting strip that is the long fibers. I get a lot of phantom or ghost shots where I place the ball and I am standing there and it registers a shot without the ball moving. This happens both in the Skytrak Driving range and TGC. I pulled the grass series hitting strip out and replaced it with a piece of the performance series mat (it comes with a 2 foot section after the grass series mat) that i cut down to 12 x 48 so it would fit in the grass series insert location to see if the mat was the source of the phantom shots. When i do this, i get no phantom shots. I can even trigger the skytrak with my club and the red laser goes out but it realizes that it doesn't see the ball moving and doesn't register a shot. That is, it is behaving the way it should.

Has anyone else seen this and found a workaround to be able to use the grass series insert?

The performance series mat works fine, but I have shoulder problems and causes pain due to how grabby it is if I hit it fat at all (I think it is similar to a CCE).

I have the same mat and have experienced similar issues. I could never tell if the fake grass on the FB strip was the problem but I've been getting a TON of no reads recently and it's really frustrating. Do you know if the ST sits perfectly level with the hitting strip?

I have the same setup and having phantom shots happen a ton in the past week or two. I haven’t tried a different hitting surface yet. Never had issues before with it. Have you contacted SkyTrak yet? I plan on it next week.

I have this setup and never had issues with phantom shots. Never had one in two years with this exact setup

Are you using the latest software version and are you up to date on the latest firmware?

Just throwing my hat in the ring since I am having the same problems, phantom reads with the skytrak and the fiberbuilt mat. Wondering if anyone figured out a fix?
