  • Distance issues

Have had a SkyTrak for about 3 months now and have read all the forums trying to find help for my distance issues but have made zero progress.
I can’t get any balls reading over 140. I can but my 3 iron as good as ever and it’s reading 130 when I know I’m hitting right around 225. I’m using an sig pro softy hitting mat. SkyTrak is off of my hitting platform but is level with it. (Have tried placing slightly lower and higher).

just looking for any tips or possible solutions before I send it in.

Is there anything directly behind where you stand that could be messing with it (shiny, reflective)? Lighting? Have you tried hitting off a different mat?
Is the skytrak itself completely level? My garage floor slopes and was throwing mine off at first.

im sure you’ve looked into most/all of these already but just throwing it out there in case

your distances sound so far off that it seems very likely something wrong with the unit

Yes have tried everything mentioned above. Have a black curtain hanging on the wall behind me. Seems like it’s picking up everything fine in terms of spin, left, right, low, high. Ball speed just seems way off (65mph with 7 iron when I know I’m right around 90 ) and distances are way short. I’m thinking it’s something wrong with the unit but have seen so many people send it in and they say nothings wrong so thought I’d try this first.

Try a few shots from the short tee to eliminate the effect of club contact with the matt. My experience is that even a very little "fat" shot will have a significant effect on ball speed and thus shorten the length.

Is you ball speed always the same percentage off no matter what club you are using? If so reload the software if possible. The way Skytrak calculates ball speed is it finds the distance between the centroids of the two ball images and divides by the time between image captures. If either the machine lost the interval time in it's software or the image time has changed from it's design value you should be getting the same percentage error no matter what club.
