The delay of the shot is really sad. With the computing capabilities of today's processors, it's unacceptable.
I measured several shots in the video and all delays were over 2 seconds.
To me, no improvement in this regard over the original ST.
The new ST+ is a disappointment to me. 👎-

How can I work on my shots if I can’t hit at least one ball per second?
Rapid fire machine gunning shots off the tee is the key to swing improvement, right?
These silly shot delay criticisms are beyond ridiculous. -

Your post is stupid. I've been using Skytrak since 2016, so I'm used to the delays. I'm criticizing that Skytrak hasn't made any progress in shot delay, which is inexcusable with current processors performance. If someone is using Skytrak for SIM play and doesn't need club path data, there is no reason to change to ST+.
So give it a rest buddy.

There was that couple weeks during the GolfTec server migration that shots were REALLY slow but other than that I just can’t see what the moaning and hand wringing is about. I love how some people watch a freekin’ YouTube and all of the sudden they’re an authority full of grave pronouncements.

I asked a question yesterday during their live chat on the actual improvement of shot to show from original to + and he responded that it went from about 4 to 2 seconds. Made zero sense as I had the original from day 1 of shipped units and it was only 2 seconds back then on a gaming computer. Skytrak even said (in the old original skytrak thread) way back in the day that the fastest is about 2 seconds. Really appears they made no improvement in that regard.

The following is speculation: Given Rapsodo helped to create the Skytrak and jointly hold copyright with Skytrak/Golftech. There has always been a problem in updating the Skytrak without their permission to use their jointly copyrighted hardware, programming and techniques. From my understanding this was why there had never been any real hardware updates since 2014. Unless Rapsodo allowed them to make changes and use their copyright material on a new device they were stuck. It could be the case that Rapsodo still do not allow major changes and they are in fact using mostly the same hardware and internal software in the new unit. It would explain the same delay. They could have simply updated the cameras and added on the radar and combined it.

The reason for the shot delay is related to how the unit handles the computing of the images. My understanding is that the onboard processor will handle and package the images which are sent to the main computer and analyzed there. The delay will be related to the transfer of these images. That allows for cheaper onboard processing. Foresight and Uneekor for example will compute everything on board. I suspect the new Skytrak still works this way. The radar portion of the Skytrak should be quicker than the camera processing but will likely only provide club data. All in all, the Skytrak plus will be a great unit. I am certainly looking forward to testing soon.Comment
