    10-20 second delays

I have had my Skytrak for about 6 years. I use it on a two different iPads. Both have worked great with the normal 1-2 second delay. I use direct connection using the skytrak’s built in Wi-Fi to connect the ipad. However, about a week ago, the delay substantially increased from the normal delay to the 10-20 second delay. I sent an email to skytrak support and they told me to delete the software and reload it. I did and it didn’t help. I sent another email mentioning it didn’t work and got a canned response about how rare it is for skytrak not to read shots and things to fix it, like put the device level with the mat. Ugh! I made it clear that the problem wasn’t that it wouldn’t read, but the unusual amount of time it takes to process the shot.

got on with support chat and sent them my data logs. Waiting to hear back from them on what those logs tell them. Could be the new app update doesn’t work well on my 6th generation iPad. (2018)

Has anyone had this problem with shot delay suddenly becoming 10 times longer than normal? If so, how did you resolve it? what ended up being the cause?

Does the delay happen when the shot is struck or when the unit is rearming for the next shot?

When I hit the ball, the top light immediately turns red, indicating that the unit registered the shot. The light remains red while I wait for the shot to show up on the iPad. About 10-20 seconds later, the tracer shows up on the iPad. As soon as the shot finishes it’s display on the iPad, the unit rearms and the top light turns green, ready for the next shot.

So, the delay is after the unit recognizes a shot has taken place.

Mine started doing the same thing when (1) I upgraded to 4.4, and (2) my subscription expired. I have not yet paid for the Game Improvement Plan I had (I was waiting to decide whether to get the SkyTrak+). I am also running on an older iPad but I tried it several months ago (before 4.4) on a new iPad Pro and it didn't change the lag much, if at all.

Hmm. Sorry to hear that. It’s very disconcerting. I have a new iPad Air 5th generation coming in the hope it will solve this problem. Before I ordered it, I did hook up my Skytrak to my computer to try to rule out a problem with the Skytrak itself. I figured if it worked correctly on the computer, it meant it wasn’t a problem with the Skytrak itself. The delay was normal on the computer so it sounds like the SkyTrak unit is operating properly.

I sent my data logs to customer support and they said to lookout for an email from them after they review them. I’m still waiting, but haven’t heard anything. And when skytrak_Jordan asked me a question above, I felt optimistic he would follow up after I answered him. But I haven’t heard back from him either.

The new ipad arrives on Tuesday. I will post what happens when I try the software on that platform. Fingers crossed.

Well, the new IPad arrived. I misremembered which one I ordered. I got the 11 inch iPad Pro. I hit about 125 balls tonight with the Skytrak on the new iPad. It worked flawlessly. Problem solved.

So, my conclusion is the update of the software to 4.4.1 was the straw that broke my old iPads’ back, ie: the ability to process the data. The old iPads were an iPad Air 2, and a 6th generation ipad. The former was from 2015 and the latter from 2018.

Thanks, CAPDAK, I may have to try that again. It sounds liken upgrade to the SkyTrak+ and an iPad Pro may be an order. In the meantime, I wonder if I could downgrade the app since the new version doesn't add much to the old SkyTrak?

I’ve seen people on here talk about reverting back to an earlier version. I’ve never done it myself and don’t know how. I don’t know if they were talking about doing it on a pc, or on an iOS device.

I have been having the same problem since 4.4.1. I got through on tech support chat, and they said they knew about the issue, that it was iPad only, and it will be fixed in an upcoming revision. It was a bit disappointing to hear that, since the last update didn't seem to do anything for original SkyTrak users. I have a 6th gen iPad, too, and they said you can't "downgrade" the app with iOS. Maybe I'll have to try the iPad Pro, but this does not encourage me to upgrade to the SkyTrak+.

Just switched to an iPad Pro (M2 2022) and it solved the shot delay issue. I wish SkyTrak would let users know when an "upgrade" requires different hardware and let people stay on what they have.

Btw, it also solved the "disconnect issue" with the Rapsodo MLM2 Pro I have been testing.

CAPDAK, what version of the iPad Pro did you get? I am on an iPad Air 2 and getting 4-7 second delays and thinking of an iPad 9th gen on the A13 chip. but if its going to be a waste of money, I would prefer to know now and jump to an M1 chip model

I got the iPad Pro with the 11th inch screen. I decided on the pro specifically to get the faster chip. It was worth it to me to know I had the fastest chip available for the iPad. I think my old iPad was 6th generation and just stopped cutting it all of a sudden when software was upgraded. I figured I didn’t want to get the 9th gen iPad and after a few software upgrades having it stop cutting it again. I’m happy with my choice. Works great.
