  • SkyTrak vs GC2

I just purchased an impact screen and hitting mat for my basement. I am looking at either GC2 or Skytrak. I have hit off a GC2 before and loved the experience. I was looking at purchasing a used GC2, but worried about what would show up at my door. I can afford the $8000 price tag for GC2 +FSX, but don't know if I should spend that kind of money. I live in the midwest so can only golf 6 months of the year. Love to practice, but with a new child it is hard to leave the house. Which is why I started to get a setup in my basement. I really want it for course play and to be able to practice during the winter. To me I can probably play off the same course as long as the graphics are good. Looked at some of the Skytrak TGC videos and the quality doesn't look the best. Do you think the E6 will look better? I spoke to Skytrak and E6 and both agree they will support each other, but not sure when.

So if I can drop $8000 of GC2+FSX do I or will I get the same result with Skytrak and E6(when/if) it comes out?

You can't compare Skytrak to GC2. If you have the money get a GC2. Be careful with the FSX software costs. Do some research on TGC vs E6. I certainly prefer TGC over E6 but it's buyers choice.

I agreed, everyone has so much positive to say on gc2 and apart from a very minor number of people who had some sort of set up issue which seem to be easily resolved I have it heard much else in terms of negativity to the hardware. The software price and quality is where you hear most things negative. Make sure you read all posts on TGC and Cg2 as everyone loves it and visually say nothing else compares. For me e6 works but if TGC ever became compatible with TM I would jump on it in an instant. For now though I just enjoy playing on something that works very well and looks pretty good, just flat and in need of some 3dvengine like TGC to look amazing.

Any reason why you like TGC over E6?

TGC has better Graphics, courses, putting, cost etc.

E6 has better modes of play and driving range.

            Both are fine.

GC2 is better established, accurate and proven. Skytrak is new and has great potential. If money is no issue buy a GC2.

Thanks for all the info. So you guys recommend the GC2 and should I not get any software from Foresight and just get the TGC software?

Yes, I agree too. I have hit on a GC2 many times before I chose Skytrak. Yes, GC2 is a better product, but again, $8,000 vs. $2,000. That was my deciding factor, I'd rather spend my disposable income on Golf Travel. Skytrak works great as a range for now (seeing as that's all I have been able to play). Time will tell.

You can get the Foresight software, but it is expensive! Why waste money. TGC is wha I would recommend with the GC2. Ask any GC2 owner that has TGC what they think. Plus with TGC you have onlin play.

TGC for Skytrak has been tested for months and is due to be released soon. It's coming!

Would this be from Skytrak or a 3rd party to connect them

do you think I could purchase the PC version now in anticipation for the integration with skytrak? Or what I can purchase now for a PC is different then what Skytrak will offer?
