  • SkyTrak vs GC2

I just purchased an impact screen and hitting mat for my basement. I am looking at either GC2 or Skytrak. I have hit off a GC2 before and loved the experience. I was looking at purchasing a used GC2, but worried about what would show up at my door. I can afford the $8000 price tag for GC2 +FSX, but don't know if I should spend that kind of money. I live in the midwest so can only golf 6 months of the year. Love to practice, but with a new child it is hard to leave the house. Which is why I started to get a setup in my basement. I really want it for course play and to be able to practice during the winter. To me I can probably play off the same course as long as the graphics are good. Looked at some of the Skytrak TGC videos and the quality doesn't look the best. Do you think the E6 will look better? I spoke to Skytrak and E6 and both agree they will support each other, but not sure when.

So if I can drop $8000 of GC2+FSX do I or will I get the same result with Skytrak and E6(when/if) it comes out?

No, you need to purchase the integration and TGC sim version from Skygolf when it comes out. You can get the PC version to play it with the mouse, but it won't connect with Skytrak and is different than the sim version.

No problem. You can't go wrong with Skytrak or GC2. Both have or at least will have TGC. Keep us posted on your choice. Hopefully you can join the online winter TGC golf tour.

          My $0.02

I've owned a SkyTrak, and only hit off gc2 at Dick's.
I'm currently looking at getting a gc2. I came across some on ebay. There was a company on ebay selling gc2s recently. I messaged them and they were willing to sell me one with apple/bluetooth for $3,000. I believe the company was 2nd swing golf.

The reason I would choose gc2 over skytrak is because of the portability. You can take the GC2 outside and hit off the ground and it will auto level. Also with the $50 ipad app, that isn't a bad price until you pull the trigger on what simulation software you want to go with. For me, the Creative Golf demo would hold me over for the time being. Yes, I know SkyTrak CAN be used outdoors as well, but you have to put the ball on that red dot every time, and you really need to be hitting off a mat.

This might be just a personal opinion, but I feel like the Skytrak has to be positioned way too close to the ball. GC2 there is some wiggle room with where the ball can be placed, and it is definitely not as close as the SkyTrak.

I was looking at the same GC2. I also asked for the GC2 at 3k. I didn't get it because I was worried it might not work or be fake. Plus it was a 2010 version. Did you ever buy it from 2nd swing

3k is a good price. Since Skytrak there at lots of GC2's for sale. Nothing perfect. Just make sure there is a return policy in case the in has issues. Look a this thread http://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum/...tance-20-short. Not trying to deter you but plan ahead. If it works then go for it.

ryanoneill1 I never ended up getting it because I've decided to put the launch monitor on hold for a little bit longer. I may be looking more aggressively in the fall/winter.
I called and spoke to the guy at 2nd swing. Sounded like they had a bunch of hitting bays and recently upgraded to trackman, so that is the reason for the recent listings. 2010 version should be fine. I may be wrong but I don't think much has changed at all as far as hardware goes, other than bluetooth/apple compatible. They did have a return policy as well. Hopefully when I'm ready to buy one they will still have some available.

Anyone have any further news on the release of the PC version of Skytrak other than its coming soon? Last posts I saw on here from Skytrak I believe they were saying 4 to 8 weeks, well if I am not mistaken we have passed that time frame again.

Honestly has to be the most frustrating thing about Skytrak and I haven't even hit off the system yet(mine will arrive today). All they say is its coming please wait. You can go back 1 year on this forum showing skytrak saying it will be coming soon. I will the company would just be honest. People are spending a lot of money on their system and desire better information. I have been emailing with Skytrak, E6, TGC, and WGT. They have been saying for a month they will all be out soon. I think it will roll out - WGT, E6, TGC from what I can get out of them. I know the Foresight GC2 has TGC integration available now. Thinking about canceling my order with Skytrak and getting something that works now. I don't know how much longer I can wait/be strung out.

Will there be a pricing release prior to content release?

I have been using the skytrak 3-4 nights a week for 6 months and love it. My irons have improved in a big way.
I can't wait for sim software, getting a little bored with the range.
I don't see any big difference in the gc2 besides there range looks a little better.

Forgive my ignorance but I'm a little confused. We seem to be discussing the, "..PC version of Skytrak" so is that a Windows version of the SkyTrak software which currently only runs on an Apple device, or are we talking about sims, more specifically TGC when we speculate 15th Sep?

It appears to me that he is responding to the question of PC software for the Skytrak. So not simulation, but the apple app on a windows PC.

I think skytrak was referring to the sim software, especially WGT when he speculated sept15th

Sorry it wasn't clear...I was referring to the PC version of what is currently available on iPad. But actually, it's kinda both

Thanks for clearing that up SkyTrak. Good luck with the timeline. If all goes well is seems that September is going to be very interesting month indeed!
