Newly purchased skytrak plus red line instead of dot

Hi all, just getting my sim finished this week and before my encloser and all that jazz arrives I have been setting up the skytrak plus with pc etc. Has anyone experienced the red dot as being a line about 1 inch long instead of a dot. I just want to make sure it's ok before I wait too long and have everything setup and it has bad reads etc. If this is normal than great if not maybe it got jostled in delivery or something I'm not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

It’s only a pointer to the impact area, it has nothing to do with the reading of the shot.

I understand that just trying to be sure nothing else is off inside with the laser as it's not forming a dot.

What kind of mat do you use? I know that on Fiberbuilts, a bristle can get in the way of the laser dot and make it appear elongated.
