SkyTrak and WGT

This WGT integration is awesome and, like a lot of others, is what we have been expecting - so great work SkyTrak_Seth and team. Looking forward to the full version and other sim options!

Some feedback as usual:

- +1 about auto hiding the scorecard
- I see we can by club/ball/driver "upgrades". I *hope* this is not going to have any realistic effect on the actual ball flight data!
- The WGT app takes forever to load/connect initially. Thus, leaving the app open in background mode lets you connect way quicker/start playing sooner.
- Club data back into 360 for each shot would be nice - but this would require us to pick the club before each shot ... having this as a option during game play might be best.

- Not even sure why they are there, but upgrades will have no effect on ball flight. Maybe just a beta thing.
- The release version will actually 'talk' to the SkyTrak app during launch, making connection much easier and faster.
- Yep, 360 integration is planned for phase 2.

Firstly, great work skytrak on wgt beta although wife complained shes hardle seen me the last few days. I never thought id have so much fun playing a sim. I was unsure how much i would enjoy it watching the testing of other sims with the 6sec delay but WGT renders in 3secs which was a good surprise.
May i ask why the other sims ive seen have a 6s,ec delay while WGT has 3secs ? Are the programmers at WGT just better at coding for optimization ? I do not mean to offend anyone with this question

Hi, It's been several months since I post last time. I recently got into this topic about WGT. I've never imagined using a sim because I was very satisfied with the Skytrak practice mode.
Yesterday, I had a chance using WGT and my response is "Oh, My Goodness. This is a real deal. So fun. Addictive. Can't stop."

Today WGT was hanging for me, a few times when pressing continue to progress the challenge, the click on the challenge button would be acknowledged but the game would freeze there. Each time I would need to kill the app and re-launch - the game would then ask me if I'd like to continue from my previous progress and then continue. I ended up using the skytrak range app in the end. Anyone else seen this?

I seem to get really erratic shots using WGT that I've never seen with the range app. Based on where the ball hit my impact screen, they should have been good shots but it shows a 40-50 yd pull or push. Anyone else see this?

I'm seeing the same erratic shots as well. I feel the skytrak software is very accurate but WGT seems to be off on both distance and accuracy in regards to side spin. Shots that might be 5-8 yards off line on the ST range seem to be 15-25 off on WGT. I'm a 4 index and feel I know where the ball is going when I hit it, but with WGT it is a surprise almost every time. Maybe it is the wind or the alignment, at this point in the beta development it is hard to tell...It would be nice to be able to turn off the wind to eliminate a variable and truly see how accurately WGT is calculating the shot. One other thing that makes visual feedback difficult, while using a projector and impact screen, is the random camera angles. I found myself having to replay the shot many times because I couldn't tell if i was looking at the ball flight from behind the hole or going toward it. It is difficult to really understand the shot and its path if the camera views are not consistent. Hopefully this will be addressed in later versions as the instant connection between physical and visual feedback is a very important factor in improving shot making. The ST range gives you the feeling of really hitting the shot as if you where on the course, WGT feels a bit too much like golden tee when it jumps from impact behind the ball to a wide overhead of the green... then the next shot the angles are different. Don't get me wrong I do like where this is going just my two cents on maybe how to improve it.

JUST MY THEORY HERE

I think this has to do with actually picking the correct aim point on the green. WGT defaults to aiming at the flag, however you rarely do this using "manual" game play. Most of the time, you need to aim for one side of the green or even off of the green to compensate for wind (or hook / slice).

Without doing this, you have to physically swing off the ideal target line (on your home range setup) to hit the proper shot. Well, that puts the ball flight in a "non-optimum" place with respect to the launch monitor, therefore you may not get the desired results (if you aim severely left or right) .

So to prevent this, i recommend moving the aim point in the WGT app, like you would normally do in regular game play, then hit a shot aimed dead straight into the center of your range.

In the beta version that we are currently using, is there a way to get the green grid to show up? Reason i am asking, is on the bandon dunes challenge which i think has all chip/pitch shots for the most part, some of these are quite a bit down hill or the greens seem to have alot of undulation and I've struggled to get some of these remotely close.

If you go to close up mode and then press and hold on the green - you will see the green grid. (Although it wont stay there).

From my short experience with WGT, I see rollback by backspin when it exceeds 8,000rpm.

Yes, it does spin and I believe there are some physics around green firmness & spin rate in order to get this to occur.

Can you take a video next time you are close to green and have a wedge or something you can get 8000 rpm plus.?

Did I say that I could spin +8,000rpm when I am close to the green? How in the world did you get the impression? Ah, probably it was my fault that I did not give a specific situation: So, here is the one - full wedge shots for 80-120 yards away from the green. And, I have to use a decent wedge and a premium ball like Pro V1.

Just came back from a Skytrak / WGT session. I think I have been infected with a new "feature" or maybe I missed it the first time I tried?
After a shot you only briefly see the Skytrak shot data before it get's covered by an advertisement banner.
Anybody else noticed that?

I am not complaining. Free stuff has adds and restrictions. Just wanted to know if this is new or if I just missed it the first time?
