SkyTrak and WGT

Hi all,

I have seen many people asking about skytrak and WTG and it seems like that the people who are beta testing TGC and E6 have never
played or tested WTG. It seems like nobody in this forum has tested it. There is no videos ... nothing. But from what I keep hearing
skytrak is coming out with WTG first...? Is there anybody who has some more detailed info or talked to somebody who tested it ?
I'm only interested cause I'm pretty sure it will be the cheapest of all versions and to test it out it would be that big of an investment.
I own a skytrak since about 5 month and can't wait for course play. The problem is I'm on the road a lot so I will not be able to play
on a regular basis. That's why TGC ,even that it seems to be the best choice, doesn't make much sense if it's going to be a monthly
prescription. Really hope to get some infos or even videos about skytrak with WTG.

I can't invest any more into your company until you reveal your idea of taking care of me. You asked for my trust and I waited. Time to show my trust was not misplaced.

And also, how does this thing work? How does one upgrade from GIP to GIP + course play (people have mentioned they have received emails for upgrades - I never received this)? If you upgrade what happens to your old GIP if expiring soon?

SkyTrak_Seth, seriously you guys are treating the early adopters like crap. If we didn't buy GIP (heck even when it was advertised as a one-time fee) we would be able to use SkyTrak app range + challenges + all the range tools and play WGT beta up to now. And now full course play is released, can go and pay $199 to play now. Whereas the early adopters are now left hanging (unable to play full course) and not knowing what is happening next. You guys have not only NOT taken care of the early adopters as promised but really screwed the early adopters at the same time.

I never updated the WGT app nor tested the PC beta software and I was just able to play WGT. I wasn't able to play 18, but just the challenges like from day 1

Read the posts doublebogey , no emails have been sent yet. I have GIP, early adopter too. And I'm waiting for email to do WGT upgrade.

This is why we won't get any more dates for info from SkyTrak_Seth, it's cause of posts like this.

I was probably one of the first ones to email Seth with all my details (S/N, user ID, email address, purchase date, GIP activation date, etc. - very detailed). Yes I'd like to exercise more patience (if fact I think many of us have exercised a lot of patience for the last year with SkyTrak and are close to running out of patience) - plus extremely frustrating if you were not tricked into buying GIP (which has served zero purpose so far) you can be happily playing full course by now. Being an early adopter certainly did not pay off here.

I'm frustrated too, if I didn't have GIP, I'd be playing WGT full tonight.

But I too have to wait for a code so I don't pay $199.00. It's just been nice that the negativity here has loosened up.

I'm not offended - I completely empathize, Truth is everything got a lot more complicated than originally thought. My hands were kind of tied until v2.0 was pushed, so all I could do was collect that information. Now things should be moving.

Ok, I was an early adopter and bought my Skytrak pre order last October. My GIP was expired because it's a year old now. Anyway, I just purchased the $199 GIP + WGT Game Play package. At first it wouldn't connect. Then I went back and logged into my Skytrak account online on Skygolf site.
I clicked "Account". Then bottom left screen I clicked "Renew Membership".
Then a clicked "Apply Membership to Skycaddie Device" (I know, it said Skycaddie. Just do it).
Then it said my device was activated and was able to play WGT full courses.

I just finished my 1st round. I thought it was pretty cool, but here are the issues I have with WGT:
1) Drives were 20 yards short just like on Skytrak range - Hopefully this gets corrected soon!!!!
2) After hitting a drive, all shots hit from a slight side angle and not true 1st person. This is really bad. Don't like that one bit!
3) Putts are too slow. You have to really hit it hard to make it to hole. Not realistic putting distance.
4) WGT app doesn't let you change any settings like (Wind, Green Speed, Tee Box, Flag Position, etc.). They say they are locked. If we are paying they should have these settings unlocked!!!
5) And here is the big deal breaker for me. It doesn't allow multiple local golfers, only you playing. So you can't have your friends come over and play together.

It was a lot of fun, but the above needs to be resolved "especially #5" for me to be a continued user of WGT. Otherwise will be looking at TGC.

I'm shocked there's no way to add additional players.
There might be another 'glitch' causing the lock on the tee box, green speed, wind, ect.

I found out if you select Practice then you can change the settings like (Wind, Green Speed, Tee Box, Flag Position). But checked again, and don't see anywhere to add another golfer to play. Very disappointed

Yes, I agree that if there's no option for multi-player with WGT then it's just a grand scale single player game. That would be very unfortunate and hopefully the dev's see this and will look at adding multi-player.

luv2golf please share how Seth has taken care of you. It would great to hear I've been concerned over nothing. Several of us have asked repeatedly and been told "trust me" for many months.

"Trust me" isn't really a great business model. Just an opinion and anyone is welcome to disagree of course, but anything short of honoring the one time purchase of gip will be unacceptable to me. Skytrak trying to convert a software purchase to an annual fee after I already paid for it is misleading at best. Even with only a five year shelf life, skytrak will have charged $500 for a product they represented as only $100. How can it have taken skytrak this long to make it right for their first customers? Who takes a year to correct their own customer service snafu?

Chughes, unfortunately I would be very surprised if they end up honouring that and in effect giving you GIP for life for your one off fee. Im sure that in theory they could reimburse you for your $100 of what has in effect been wasted GIP, and I think that would be a very fair solution IMO, you believe you were mis-sold the GIP, which has indeed been of little to no use, so as a measure they should either give you your $100 back, leaving you with no GIP but in a posiition where you could now purchase it being armed with the info of it being an anual fee, or what is actually more likely, to give you a years free GIP in lieu of the year you have purchased where it was no use. Ultimately you made the decision to make the purchase, yes you were were no doubt told it was a one of fee, but the model has changed and they could argue the GIP itself has changed as it is now a key requirement to allow sim play and so what you purchased no longer exists.

I think this is probably not going to be satisfactory, but I think that would be a fair offer if it was to be made. The joys of early adoption I guess and again I guess it all boils down to how far you want to take it but do agree that as those without GIP have had the same function as those with it for a year then you should be looked after in some way, as Skytrak have saad they will. I would say they are just waiting until its all up and running before making such an offer.

@John Meyer that would be one approach. You're right, probably not the one I'd find most satisfactory, but hey, no one always gets everything they want. I'm glad there seems to be movement today. I am admittedly frustrated with the waiting and the vagary. I'm not used to buying something and then having the terms of the purchase changed after the sale was completed. I appreciate your thoughts.

So I bought the 199 package. Activated it and all seems good on my end. When I try and play on wgt it say unlock thru skytrak? Anyone else have this issue. Thanks!

Doesn't seem all good on your end if your getting that message. Try re-booting the app (close and open) and re-boot your skytrak

Tried all that. Only thing I can think of is my online account and the skytrak app account are somehow not linked. When I try and activate it online it says that's its already activated. So weird.

Ok..........people are going to be pissed, myself included.

Just on the phone with skygolf. So the coupon code going out is for $50 off of WGT. $50 off of $199.00.

So now, I've spent $99 7 months ago and for me paying for something that I didn't even need I get the offer to spend an additional $50 over what someone coming on board now or someone who didn't spend the $$ but still got closest to the pin and long drive challenges for free.

WOW...........now I'm thinking about dumping this and talking to Foresight. Not impressed at all.

I guess not. Pretty funny, just last night your are telling people to have PATIENCE and boy how quickly your tune changes. Also if you are an early adopter then you would have ordered last October/November and had the unit early December, why would you purchase your GIP in March? Makes no sense, especially when people were already questioning what they were getting from the GIP other than the dozen balls. But thanks anyway.

blah, these are the risks early adopters take. I'm not saying skygolf hasn't been kind of stupid about stuff, but if we wanted something proven from the beginning we would have went with protee or GC2. just my two cents.
