SkyTrak and WGT

Hi all,

I have seen many people asking about skytrak and WTG and it seems like that the people who are beta testing TGC and E6 have never
played or tested WTG. It seems like nobody in this forum has tested it. There is no videos ... nothing. But from what I keep hearing
skytrak is coming out with WTG first...? Is there anybody who has some more detailed info or talked to somebody who tested it ?
I'm only interested cause I'm pretty sure it will be the cheapest of all versions and to test it out it would be that big of an investment.
I own a skytrak since about 5 month and can't wait for course play. The problem is I'm on the road a lot so I will not be able to play
on a regular basis. That's why TGC ,even that it seems to be the best choice, doesn't make much sense if it's going to be a monthly
prescription. Really hope to get some infos or even videos about skytrak with WTG.

Thanks. I just bought the GIP on 9/30 for $99 so I am really hoping not to pay for it again. I understand that there are always logistical challenges but fairness is highly valued by customers.

Good grief, people.

1) Seth is active on this forum
2) He has asked for our feedback to improve the product from the very beginning
3) There are beta testers of the simulation software on this forum
4) He offered a PC beta version for us to play with just because we kept asking for it
5) He has helped with faulty units (some of which probably weren't even faulty)
6) He has said he will make it right for those of us that pre-ordered in Oct last year.

Do these sound like the actions of someone who doesn't intend to make it right? No.

New to this site, but from what I have read, Seth from Skytrak is great with being responsive and taking the time to respond to everyone's concerns. My main concern isn't so much the GI package pricing with the courses, but if WGT will release an update eventually with local multi player optional.

I kind of want to wait until the driving is fixed, Buttttt WGT is awesome with skytrak and I just got off the phone with a girl from there because I never got my GIP from Par2Pro when I ordered about 2 months back and said she would take care of me and get me the code and GIP email today!!! Quit whining Seth and the people there are here to help not to screw you!

Not possible I believe. WGT is just Hi-Res static images taken by their team that walks these courses. It's kind of like Google street view. Unlike 3-D rendered courses on TGC, E6, PG, you only have so many camera angles available depending on where the pictures were taken from on that particular hole.

Seth, you said the driver fix isn't in the 2.0 version and will be in 2.1.

Well I just checked and my iPad app shows Skytrak ver. 2.1 and firmware 1.350

So, is this the 2.1 that has the driver fix?

Did you release two versions today then (or 2.0 last night and 2.1 today)?

Chughes, unfortunately I would be very surprised if they end up honouring that and in effect giving you GIP for life for your one off fee. Im sure that in theory they could reimburse you for your $100 of what has in effect been wasted GIP, and I think that would be a very fair solution IMO, you believe you were mis-sold the GIP, which has indeed been of little to no use, so as a measure they should either give you your $100 back, leaving you with no GIP but in a posiition where you could now purchase it being armed with the info of it being an anual fee, or what is actually more likely, to give you a years free GIP in lieu of the year you have purchased where it was no use. Ultimately you made the decision to make the purchase, yes you were were no doubt told it was a one of fee, but the model has changed and they could argue the GIP itself has changed as it is now a key requirement to allow sim play and so what you purchased no longer exists.

I think this is probably not going to be satisfactory, but I think that would be a fair offer if it was to be made. The joys of early adoption I guess and again I guess it all boils down to how far you want to take it but do agree that as those without GIP have had the same function as those with it for a year then you should be looked after in some way, as Skytrak have saad they will. I would say they are just waiting until its all up and running before making such an offer.

I bolded the section that says the GIP has changed because that is not the case. From the beginning , even when the website did not have it listed as a subscription, it said game improvement package would be needed to unlock the additional features and the soon to be coming sim options. So what we (including myself) purchased as a one time fee to unlock these features has now been taken away and a forced expiring subscription now exists. The GIP has not changed at all, except now their website says membership/plan next to the GIP. I have been very patient waiting to hear on how we would be taken care of but my interactions with customer support today , excluding Seth (you are great to go above and beyond your official duties at skytrak), have been nothing but sorry your first year subscription is ending and you will have to pay for everything again.

As it stands now I currently have a 'subscription' on my account so how do I even just add the WGT package without paying for another full upgrade? I agree with you above, what exactly did my "Subscription" pay for in the first year? Best part is my invoice has a subscription model on it but not for the GIP, it is for a boxgroove membership - 1 year. Why if that is so clearly marked is there nothing about a year ending for the GIP? I also have a chat session direct with skygolf telling me directly that my GIP would be a 1 time only fee. I'm happy with the product, that is not my complaint. I'm extremely dissatisfied with what information I have been given and then how that information has changed over the year after I put in my order and put some faith in a company that was just getting started. Obviously that was my mistake.

Everyone needs to settle down and quit arguing about the $100 GIP. Bottom line, if you purchased it in the 1st year, you got what was promised, which was the Challenges Mode and additional settings. Regardless whether this was locked down or not that is what you purchased and that's what you got.

Seth already said he is going to take care of everyone who has the GIP so they don't have to spend the entire $199 for WGT play.

Everyone complaining that the original $99 GIP should be for life just because it wasn't advertised as subscription at the time needs to understand you were an early adopter when the Skytrak company was new and figuring out their business strategy. Skytrak is doing exactly what they should be doing, which is ensuring long term revenue with the subscription. If the GIP was for life then Skytrak would eventually go out of business because they would not have a sustaining company.

Now do you really want them to go out of business and then your $2000 investment becomes a brick. That would be much worse. I want Skytrak to grow so they can develop and release new features and enhancements.

It's $100 bucks or $200 a year for WGT. Quit complaining. That's not a lot of money. Otherwise go spend $1500 on gaming PC and $1000 for TGC when it's released and $100 each year for GIP. Or better yet, go spend $9000 on a GC2 and $1000 on another software.

Now go play some damn golf and quit complaining....haha!

Thanks for your advice. We disagree. I certainly did not get what was promised. Whether it's a lot of money or not a lot of money, the company shouldn't ask us to pay repeatedly for the item they sold us, without telling us up front we'd have to pay repeatedly. Would you pay again for your college tuition if your university called now and said that's their new business model? How about if they were only going to charge you $100 per year for the right to declare yourself a graduate? Is not much money, so why not just give it to them?

And quit complaining about my complaining.

I also want skytrak to grow and expand but that growth should also be in customer relationships and service. Not just their initial bottom line. If you alienate your customer base or get some bad press because you are walking over dollars to pick up pennies then your business will potentially fail no matter what industry you are in. Once initial statements are proven to be false the why would future promises be any different. I'm sure we all know people that we tend to avoid either personally or professionally just because we know they are full of it and anything they tell us either is wrong, a lie, or embellished in some way. Once you get that reputation, it's tough to turn it around. I don't think that a lifetime GIP is the way to go, but neither is the opposite direction saying sorry but what you paid for no longer exists and we changed all the wording to be much clearer to those that purchased after you. Now pay us again.

Now that some of you are up and playing full WGT can anybody confirm or deny the earlier rumors that WGT doesn't allow local multiplayer? I know it's impossible to please everybody, especially at a low price point, but I sure hope multiplayer is available! I'd love to play with my kids or have my buddies over. I love my Skytrak but this will probably dictate whether or not I add the WGT package so I appreciate the info!
