So, have had a Skytrak for about 2 years now, and want to say some things about it. I am a 3 handicap golfer, and have used this for at first just honing skills, and then later to play online. If you want to just practice, this is ok. But for the money, buy the new Bushnell. All I have is problems. To play an 18 hole round with skytrak, be ready to have MULTIPLE miss reads. You can’t really play a draw or cut, unless you swing straight through exactly. Inside out swing usually says you almost shank the ball. I can not play online, because the putting on it is atrocious. Usually costs me 6 strokes alone with putting, and it is the short putts that tell you that your closed 10 degrees, or outside in swing by 4 degrees. I have a square line I have painted on the Matt 4 ft away, for my practice line, ball rolls straight down it, yet putt misses by 2 ft left or right. Also, no read shots, usually about 20 during an 18 hole game. Sometimes at least 4 shots in a row if let’s say I’m hitting a 5 iron to 210 out on a par 5. After hitting 4 great shots, you get tired. It will for sure read the one you hit poorly. If I had to do it all over again, I would have paid the money for the GC3 or Quad. As it stands now, I will be purchasing the new GC Falcon. As for as rating for this? I see how it is advertised as “the highest rated simulator”. Yeah, not sure who is rating it. I would give it 2 out of 5 stars. And now that the Bushnell is out for 2 grand, spend the money on that. Have played on it multiple times, with only 3 non reads. Will be selling my skytrak soon. Thanks for reading

Which simulation offering are you using? Do you experience the same misreads in the SkyTrak app? Is the SkyTrak level with your hitting surface? It doesn't matter which simulation offering I use; I can hit draws or fades when the shot demands it.

I play full games all the time without issue. Just a had two of my boys over the other day for a round. We had one no read, and two, we think, misreads. So that’s in over 220 shots. No issues at all putting. Is it perfect? No but it’s more than playable

Really enjoy mine the wife and I play 2-3 times a week. In 18 holes we may get 2-3 no reads. Very accurate for us.

Hmm. Putting down a straight line marked on the mat, but the Skytrak reads it going 2 feet to the right or left? Sounds like an alignment of the unit problem. 2 feet off seems astronomical for a device taking pictures of the ball as it rolls. This sounds like something wrong with the unit or something is interfering with the proper operation of the unit. it certainly isn’t operating as designed, based on your description. I wonder how it would operate with just the range, and not the sim program. That could tell you if it’s the unit or the software interface.

I’ve had mine since 2017. Still the original laser curtains. Over 30000 hits. Failed reads almost never happen and the read I get is what I expect the ball to have done based on the feel of the shot off the club face. I don’t do simulation on it though. I generally just use it for swing practice with the range randomizing targets. I joined a place called Swing365 where I use a $55,000 Full Swing simulator for sims. Don’t have the ceilings for a home sim.

having said that, if I had the resources to buy a Quad, I probably wouldn’t complain that the unit 1/10th of the cost isn’t as impressive as the more expensive unit. And if my answer to problems with the inexpensive unit is to drop 20k on a quad, that’s a great problem to have. The Bushnell and GC3 devices are cheaper than the quad, but have their share of negative frustrated user comments as well.

Sorry to hear it isn’t working out for some, but overall, it’s been a pretty reliable unit for most. It would be very frustrating to have 4misreads in a row. I only have so many good shots per round in me.
