You mentioned something about not leveling your ST. Get a $5 torpedo level and make sure your in the bubble both ways. It makes a difference.

Thanks luv2golf, so I should place the bubble on top of the ST to check it's level with a horizontal surface and then across the side of the unit to prevent any tilt. I'd imagine it's important for the strike/stance mat to be level with the SK if the unit sits separately. I do hope this does the job and that right now I'm quite a few degrees off. Will let you know how I get on.Comment

Yes, level is very important (at least in the bubble, doesn't have to be exact but close). I carry a cheap level in my kit for when I go to the range and hitting nets. I too just started hitting balls when I got my ST, then realized how off level my unit was. Made a huge difference.Comment

Levelling does not make a 40 yard difference. I experimented with this by propping up the front and then the back. All that does is change the launch angle by a degree or two. That does not account for 40 yards or even 20 yards. I've had the same problem so I'm sending my unit back. I bought one of the demos, so I'm returning the demo and buying a new one (and paid more). I'm hoping that will solve the problem. As you might have read in my other post, I even did a side by side comparison with another indoor simulation system and the skytrak read 20 yards short on every swing.Last edited by helgemr; 09-11-2015, 02:48 PM.Comment

I received my new Skytrak today. In case you haven't read my previous posts - this is to replace the demo unit I bought that I said was at least 20 yards short on every shot. Without any warmup it took me exactly 3 swings to realize the new Skytrak was correct. I hit 3 balls further on the new unit than 100 balls on the old unit. I suppose it's possible that I became a much better golfer overnight, but I'm sticking with my first theory - there is something wrong with my first Skytrak. So for all of you that have experienced the 20 yards short syndrome, and I know there are several of you out there, exchange that for another one. If you think it's off by that much, it probably is. You don't need to make sure it's perfectly level, you don't need to assume you swing differently inside than outside, it might actually be defective. That being said, I'm a big fan of what Skytrak has done. Defective units happen and I'm OK with that. I think they have a winning system here and adding the course simulation will make it awesome. Glad your problem was solved, I hope skygolf took care of you. Might be nice though if you loose the negative tone. We aren't here to bash you and tell you your unit isn't level or your not swinging as good indoors. To say your a better golfer overnight, wasn't necessary. Most times units aren't defective, just the users. In your case, good see your not defective.Comment

Hello Everyone, I just got my Skytrak a couple days ago and was having similar distance issues. My unit is a Demo as well. I switched to one of the Bridgestone balls they sent me and the distances instantly got better, at least for my irons. Still seems to be well behind the curve with my woods off the deck, so I am looking for a solution there. The Bridgestone balls have a significant amount of factory markings compared to others so I am attributing the better numbers to that. There does seem to be a lot of scratches on the lens cover of the unit and I wonder if that is affecting the performance of the unit, particularly on longer shots. I am also having trouble registering the unit as it says it is registered to someone else. Any suggestions to help with these minor issues is appreciated.Comment

Ha! ^^^^^ The ball definitely makes a difference. I would hold onto it for now...in our next release, we will have a slightly modified ball flight model to account for shorter wood carries.Comment

I have been hitting a lot of balls and I can definitely say the unit is spot on with all of the irons. Played yesterday and trusted the yardages I was getting from ST, and I was pin high all day long. Can't wait to see the new release to improve the wood distances. So far, very impressed!!Comment

I just set mine up and leveled it. It was 30-40 yards short. My neighbor and his daughter both experienced the same issue. My neighbors daughter is 9 and plays high level jr golf. She is very consistent with her distances. Skytrak was way off. I am concerned my demo unit is a return. I tried to register it and saw the previous owners name and city of residence. I am experiencing about 25- 50 yards short with the driver on a demo unit currently. seems to start getting off with the 7 iron through driver..
Per game golf vs skytrak
7i 159 gg vs 133 st
8i 146 gg vs 131 st
Driver is the farthest off I average 252 on game golf with a long drive of the year being 312 and struggle to get most shots to read 200. best I have gotten swinging out of my shoes was 225. not sure what to do here currently since accuracy was my main goal with skytrak.Last edited by Ryan5508; 10-23-2015, 05:08 AM.Comment

I have a game golf you can't rely on its accuracy, the GPS can be way off. I've seen it register shots that were in the fairway in real life yet game golf records it as 40-50 yards into a forest. I would say GG is accurate to +/-15 yards typically.
Try setting the ST range to firm to get more roll out, it could be the fairways you play give a lot of run out?Comment
