  • SkyTrak & GSPro - with API Connect - Working, but not well - NEWBIE

Maybe my first mistake was choosing GSPro for use with the Skytrak. People seem to be making it work well, but I am struggling. I can't get through 4 holes without it failing to read shots. Once it fails, getting it going again is a problem. I have added an LED reading lamp that shines on the ball to improve lighting. I was concerned that some shadows from a light behind the hitter were causing problems. That seemed to help a little, but I don't know how much lighting is required.

When it starts to miss shots, I open the API connect screen and look at the messages it is giving. There are messages from the "DEVICE" and "GSPRO". Typically, DEVICE will say "ARM" which means ready. I hit the ball, the laser stays lit indicating it didn't process the shot and the display on the screen shows several different messages depending on the situation. One is "GsPro round ended". It will display this after a standard shot that precedes the missed shot and that stands out as a possible problem. Adding to the weirdness, sometimes it says "round ended" but it picks up the next shot. I read about problems with the chipping mode and the LW, so I tried changing SPI to "Force Normal" and change the club to a SW. That seems to help, but I'm still averaging a misread every 12 or so shots, with punching out of the woods (an all-too-frequent situation for me) being particularly problematic.

The Skytrak is in a case, but roughly at the same level as the hitting surface. The laser dot seems to be at the appropriate distance from the unit. The computer meets the requirements and the internet connection is strong (ethernet cable, not wifi). I'm open to the possibility that it is something simple with the Skytrak unit itself. I'm hoping someone else has fought through these issues and can help. Thanks in advance! I want to invite friends over for a round of golf but I can't do that until I can get through an entire round, which hasn't happened yet.

LW club is a trigger. It will set ST in a special mode for chipping. Get out of the full metal jacket and have fun

LW club could definitely be it, I need to change my setting. The software will pick LW and I just change club to SW. also make sure you are using latest connector. Much more stable since.

In gspro bag mapping, change the LW to 20 yrds and all will be good.
