Range Session with ST...

OK..Im on day 4 of playing with this toy. I had issues that were "alignment" related and the ball going left. Well, somehow I have grooved a crazy hook/draw over the past week....no clue how as I always play a straight/fade shot.

Anyway, the ST fully confirmed my exact ball flight at the range. If anything it under estimated some side spin. My iron distances were amazingly spot on. I have full confidence that I can work on my swing correction at home and carry the results to the range or course with the device. Now, the hard part....fix my swing.

I made the same painful conclusion a while back. The sim room (garage) is now turned in to a construction site.
Raising the ceiling to 11ft and moving some stuff around to get ample space behind me.
The rookie mistake I made initially was to measure how much space I need to swing the driver and then only enabled the bare minimum.
My wife and friends are shaking their heads and have proposed that a visit to a shrink would probably be the cheaper solution to the problem.

Honestly, I think that it is from a set-up change with my net. In my basement, I hit slightly offset to the right of the center of my net (must pull the ball to hit target). Over the past year, I have grooved an out to in swing that has worked well. Now, with ST, I have the center of the net directly down the target line. I think over the past 4 days and 1000's of balls, I am starting the swing in to out to hit the target, but my clubface and grip are now closed to my new path.

I'm working on it as I like the new swing path....but hooks will kill you on the course!

Hooks might kill you, but for me that's a sweet fade.........gotta love being a lefty!!!
That being said, I can't hit a cut with an iron if my life depends on it (maybe if it was truly life or death)!!!

Mmmm, wonder why they blanked out the column headers. HLA upto 5 degrees difference and VLA upto 7 degrees difference??? This is a VERY BAD sponsored endorsement from a PRO. Definitely NOT going there for my lessons this winter LOL.

Honestly looks like the flightscope isnt calibrated correctly. It's strange that spin and launch angles are so different yet carry distances are close together.

I like that someone UK based is reviewing it but does this guy know what he's doing on that review? SkyTrack doesn't measure club head speed (yet he mentions this a couple of times) and it looks like one or both of these were not set up correctly. The difference in HLA is massive, as is lateral deviation. On FS it looks like his shot shape would be a pushy draw, on SkyTrack it's a pull/ pull hook.

Strange why his driver launch charachteristics are similar to a 10-20 handicapper.

I just meant the spin rates were very different. Ball speeds were close together. Launch angles are all based on level and alignment.

I think he says he is there with a rep from Skytrack and so I think the skytrack would have been set up correctly.

One thing this guy's video reconfirms is that SkyTrak does seem to come up with numbers a little bit short vs. Flightscope (and TrackMan on another thread) especially in the roll (which we all know cannot be taken to heart) - not simply because of potential swing differences indoors vs. outdoors.

I've been using a simple rule of thumb: SkyTrak about 10% shorter in general (so less noticeable absolute difference in shorter irons but greater absolute difference in longer irons, hybrids, fairways and drivers) then make my club selection when using SkyTrak or WGT accordingly.

Sorry hate to reopen this "Is SkyTrak accurate or too short" discussion which has been discussed to death on this forum - but any thoughts on my rule of thumb above (makes sense or completely off?) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just change your ground condition to hard if you want longer roll. We've got a VERY small tweak for driver distance coming in v2.1.

Have been changing ground condition to 'firm' in driving range - but no such option in SkyTrak Challenges and WGT?
