I started to feel like my skytrak unit was way off with it's side spin / spin axis measurements, and I got an mlm2pro to compare to it. I know that alignment is much more tricky with the original skytrak, but I think I have it dialed it pretty well. Using both units simultaneously, shows pretty good consistency on launch angle and horizontal launch angle. However the spin axis numbers can be wildlly different. I was using the RPT balls, and I feel like skytrak should be able to use those effectively as well. Does anyone know which unit is likely more accurate when it comes to spin axis?

Skytrak OG spin axis measurement vs mlm2pro

Well.. for anyone that reads this in the future... I performed a test with a laser line level. I projected a line along my target line and onto my screen. I aligned the mlm2pro to that line, and I put the skytrak square to that line with the laser dot on the line (note this used to give me readings far to the left of target when I actually hit the laser line, but perhaps they have corrected that somehow in software? this is again the OG skytrak... running 5.4 version right now). I hit all balls from that laser dot.
At any rate, I hit 10 shots and recorded the actual angle by measuring the distance from ball impact location to the laser line, and then recording the numbers from both units. Over the 10 readings, the skytrak showed an average difference of 1.7 degrees, with a standard deviation of 2.4 degrees. Perhaps I could correct for that 1.7 degrees by rotating the unit 1.7 degrees, but the standard deviation is still going to be 2.4 degrees. I think I remember reading that the skytrak OG was spec'd at +/-4 degrees.
The mlm2pro was much better... and that probably makes sense because it's far easier to align with it's camera, and it's looking down the line. It showed an average difference of 0.7 degrees (which again could be a potentially correctable misalignment), but even more to the point, the standard deviation was just 0.2 degrees.
Now, my original question was regarding spin axis, but if you're getting the HLA's off by a few degrees it feels like that can lead to 2 identical shots being quite different even if the spin axis is perfect... true/false?
So I guess, in short... I currently feel like the mlm2pro is far more trustworthy than the original skytrak. I might keep it, and sell my skytrak... all of the other numbers like ball speed, VLA, etc seemed to be pretty close for the two units. And now that skytrak has added club path and AoA, I think it's just the way to go. Anyone agreee/disagree?
