As a loyal Skytrak customer since 2017 and a Skytrak+ owner since its July 2023 launch, I have approached this new unit with considerable experience. Unfortunately, this long-term test has been overwhelmingly disappointing due to persistent and unresolved connectivity issues that make the product fundamentally unreliable.
The core problem is the unit's inability to establish and maintain a stable connection. For those of us balancing work and family, practice time is precious. The majority of my sessions are spent troubleshooting—rebooting the device, reinstalling software, and resetting network connections—rather than practicing. Attempts to resolve this through all three connection modes (Wi-Fi, Direct, and even a wired USB connection) have failed to provide a stable experience.
While customer support agents are patient, their solutions are limited to a basic troubleshooting script that has yet to provide a permanent fix. This is compounded by support hours (starting at 9 AM Central) that do not accommodate users who practice in the early morning.
So now that I know connectivity can be had by rebooting everything multiple times. The new update frequently misreads practice swings as "ghost shots," and the data is inconsistent, with my iron distances now registering 10 yards longer without any change to my equipment or environment.
In conclusion, the Skytrak+ is a product with significant potential that is crippled by its lack of basic reliability. When less expensive smart devices maintain flawless connectivity, this is unacceptable.
