I've paid $2k for a launch monitor to improve my game and I'm very happy with that, 2k was a steal. The 'basic' range is more than enough when the device is used as a launch monitor which is what it is ultimately.

Using it as a sim is a nice add on. Sim is fun. LM improves your game.
I can accept that to get sim then I need to pay extra for it, I can moan at the price of sim software but that's not ST's fault, they've done their bit providing a launch monitor at a price point most can now reach. We might do well to reflect on that.

      Everyone's different.

For me $2k for just a launch monitor is way too expensive. Especially one lacking club data since it is very hard to figure out exactly what your club is doing from ball data alone.

Paying something extra for sim might be OK but ST is not blameless as to the high cost of sim software. TGC from Protee is $999...but ST not only charges the max retail but also levies their subscription cost on top of that significantly increasing the price even further. Contrast that with GSA Golf selling TGC for $700.

Is there a cheaper launch monitor on the market?

I don't think it matters if there's a cheaper launch monitor, some people will always find something negative.

AMEN Brother!!!! We live in a world where everyone loves to complain about something, which is unfortunate. Rather that complain about what you aren't getting. Look at what you are getting for 2K. Your getting a Launch Monitor comparable to GC2 (6K) and maybe even flightscope (12K) (forget my numbers, they are probably way off and I"m sure someone will happily correct me). The point being is what we are paying for our Skytrak is a great value for what you get in a base package.

So for an extra $200/year to have added sim play, I'm all in. It's a steal. This product in my opinion is under priced.

It doesn't matter. The value proposition for skytrak is defined by what they do, not by anyone else.

I considered the skytrak just for the driving range but $2k for a crippled driving range just seemed poor value to me so i never bought it.

If your question was what alternatives exist then there are several. The protee with club data is probably better for your driving range needs. A used gc2 might be also since it is more accurate and in the end probably no more expensive. A Lx Lite might be just as good and is cheaper than skytrak. And then there is the new ES16. Lots of choices, people shouldn't feel there is no choice because there is. Anyway this is getting way of topic, maybe start a separate thread on skytrak alternatives if you are really interested.

Surely the value proposition is defined by the buyer i.e. they will buy it if considered worth the value. Also, perceived value is definitely driven by competitors. If you have 5 companies offering products that all do the same thing and 1 is half the price of the others then it should be considered as better value? Obviously there are consumer considerations, like aesthetics, brand loyalty (Apple vs. Android) that can drive up/down the price point. I personally consider the Skytrak great value when you look at the current market. If GC2;s, Flightscopes and Trackmans were all $500 the Skytrak would be awful value.

Good point! Please stay on topic and start a new thread to discuss Skytrak alternatives and value propositions. This thread is about a WGT error. Thank you.

              What was the fix?

              Found it:

I am at level 7 going for level 8 and I am able to play the challenges for the first four courses.
I think you will reach the next level after you play 4-5 rounds of challenge.

Guys, you can also see the post in the sticky thread about WGT, but they burned the midnight oil and restored the WGT + SkyTrak beta. You should all be back up and running,
