  • SkyTrak v2.0 Release Notes

    Guys,

    We have just released v2.0 for iOS. I will address game improvement issues from the past in a different thread, so let's keep this conversation about v2.0 and any questions you may have with it. It looks like some of you who were testing the PC release had the Game Improvement Package, but it was not linked to your device. It was an easy enough fix, but I've had the SkyGolf team go ahead and search all users/subscriptions and take care of any remaining similar issues, so it should not be an issue moving forward.

    I'm sorry I haven't been able to be on the forum this or last week, but there's been a lot going on behind the scenes. I will just say that this release was timed for the full release of WGT.

    V2.0 RELEASE NOTES

    - Added subscription/license requirements for Subscription Package features and Simulation partners
    - Resolved Data Sync issues
    - Added SkyTrak Hardware Battery Indicator
    - Added “+/-“ fine-tune adjustments for Closest to Pin distance adjustment
    - Added ability to save Session Settings (remains on last used)
    - Average distance on the range is now for current club only
    - Fixed Side Spin Average bug in Session History
    - Added ABOUT screen in Profile – Displays software version, firmware version, and registration information (for now, this will only serve as a register device button)
    - Users are automatically upgraded to hardware firmware version 1.35 for future putting functionality
    - Various bug fixes/backend/server communications/licensing work

      Ok finally gathered up the courage to upgrade to v2.0. Haven't tried out yet but sync stopped working again (i.e., continuous green circular loop trying to sync) after upgrade. Anybody had same problem? If so, how to solve? Same old uninstall and reinstall app? If there are other ways would prefer not to uninstall and reinstall as there are unsynced shot data (previously unable-to-sync direct mode session shot data) I would prefer not to lose. Thanks.

        Do you happen to have multiple accounts with SkyGolf? The only other person I've run into with sync issues had 3.

        Yes have 2 accounts - one set up in order to purchase SkyTrak and one set up subsequently to register unit. How to delete or remove old unused accounts then? Have asked live chat many times and they were unable to help? Thanks.

      I upgraded and then went to purchase the Game Improvement Package from Skygolf. Seems that I can't pay by PayPal as I live in Australia. Online support told me to phone the UK office and gave me the phone number... Yeah right.. Like I am going to do that. The international call rates would kill my wallet.

      Seth, can you help at all?

      Don't know what the big deal is with the address not being in the USA. Which then won't let me pay for something I want to purchase. It's not like I am going to get it in the mail. It's all electronic.

        This is wayyy out of my territory, but I think it all has to do with the their back end payment system...which is why they only officially sell to US and Canada. If you can PM me your email address, I can see if I can set you up with someone in the UK. Although I'm not really sure that would be much different.

        Don't pay with paypal, pay with a Credit Card, it'll charge you in US funds and your credit card company will do the conversion.

      Well, I successfully purchased the GIP, I used my friends address that lives in Pensylvania. But, now I have another problem. Each time I go into the V2 app, it says I only have 15 days to register the skytrak before the skytrak stops working. I go into About, in the app, to register the device and it says that the device is not registered. I go to register it and it says the device is registered to the current person who is logged in on the App. What the heck is going on there?

      I deleted the app and reinstalled it, but still have the same problem.

      So now, I have had to try and use my wife's android phone to get a network connection working with the iPad and the sky ra to try a registration that way. Not sure if it is working or not. It is still sitting on the registration screen with the circle icon spinning around. I hope I'm not blowing out my data on the phone. Problem is that my home wifi doesn't work with skytrak.

      Seth. Can I suggest that perhaps the data for licence can be downloaded onto the iPad first and then once the iPad has a connection, by wifi or direct to the skytrak, that it then installs the licence files into the skytrak? This might make things easier for those of us who don't have a home wifi that works with skytrak.

      I'm just hoping now that I didn't waste 100USD. Which ended up being 150 aussie, by purchasing the GIP and not being able to get it to work.

        Well, I think I've just wasted a lot of money. I think I found the problem as now when I log into my Skygolf account on the Skygolf website, there is now, no information that my Skytrak is registered and no information that I have purchased the GIP.. Just awesome!!!

        Luckily I printed out the registration screens to prove it.

        Seth, I hope you can help with this. As the chat support said they can see the details, but the website doesn't show it. This seems to be the problem with registration I guess, as things are not working any more. The software app still says I have 15 days to register before it stops working.

        Hoping you can fix this one Seth.

          Well, here's an update..

          The registration finally came up with an error.

          It reads

          Application Error. Customer ID is not available for Registration.

            Now a repeating error that says the unit is already registered to the user who is logged in. But going back to the About page in the app says the unit isn't registered and the 15 days to register or the software will be deactivated message is popping up all the time as well.

            I've tried using the beta test PC version as well, but the software has totally deactivated and no longer works at all and there is no option to register the skytrak on that software either.

            Hoping I don't end up with an expensive $2500AUD brick here.

              Well, online chat support was great. A ticket has been raised to fix the problem with my account. I'll be sent an email when it is done. Fingers crossed its done inside 15 days. That constant message pop up that says the software and skytrak will deactivate in 15 days worries me a lot.

                So looks like after v2.0, unable to check History if not connected in network mode to SkyTrak unit? i.e., if open app (w/o SkyTrak being on), it will show "DATA SYNCED", but if you click on HISTORY it will say "UPGRADE REQUIRED - You must upgrade to the Premium Package in order to access this area of the software"?

                  Well, the other issue was that after I purchased the GIP. It showed up on my account along with the skytrak registration when I logged into Skygolf. The problem was the dates for the registration were wrong and also the GIP expiration date was wrong. Chat support fixed it. Great.. I thought. But then checked and all my information in my account was completely gone.

                  Chat support said they could see it and that my skytrak app ect will still work. But it didn't.

                  I checked this morning and the information is all back again. So awesome support, fixed that part really quick and sent me a notification email.

                  So I will try again tonight after work to see if I can get the GIP licence file and skytrak registration to work. Just hope it isn't going to cost me a fortune in data on my wife's android phone. Don't know what it is, but no matter what settings I try, I can't get it connected at all with my iPhone .

                    Woohoo.. It took a little while going through my phone hotspot connection. But the licence files finally got updated and the registration is now working along with the GIP on the iPad. Now to test the PC Beta version. 😀😀

                      If I'm connected in network mode, the Skytrak app is constantly freezing. It's basically unusable. I happen to be an iOS dev - it looks to me like the thread syncing to the server is running on the main UI thread, blocking it. This doesn't seem like the type of thing that would depend on the user account. I'm surprised more people aren't seeing this.

                      I've tried deleting Skytrak and re-installing and also restarting the phone.


                      This is on an iPhone 5s. I saw this on both iOS 8.4 and after just updating today to iOS 9.

                          If I avoid logging in, it runs fine. I suspect if you connect in direct mode, it will also be ok. It's the networking code that syncs shot data to sky golf.

                        I'd be interesting to know the settings you used to be able to connect to your iPhone. I have a iPhone 4S, and no matter what settings I tried, I couldn't get the Skytrak to connect to it in network mode. I put in very simple password and name of the hotspot etc and no joy at all. That is why I had to use my wife's Android phone. Both the iPad and Skytrak connected straight away. but I could never get Skytrak to connect to my iphone personal hotspot.

                          Why are you using a personal hotspot on your iPhone? That's wifi over cellular. You should be able to just connect over WIFI to your router. If you were able to connect in network mode with an iPad, I can't see why your iPhone wouldn't work.

                        BTW - PC Beta took a while to sync up, but it started working as well.

                        Now I just need to work out how the WGT stuff works with the nearest to the pin. Which was apparently a bonus of my GIP purchase
