    Putting with Skytrak

    PUTTING WITH SKYTRAK:
What's everyone experiencing with putting with Skytrak. In E6 I'll have two putts that read perfect. Then it gets on a streak of many misreads where it says the ball is hit 4 inches right. So far the putting is not consistent. I have a brand new ball, I even marked a straight black line on the ball hoping it would help. I do have the firmware and app updates installed to allow for putting.

I used the alignment in the Skytrak app and had a strip of tape in a line to help with putting direction. I went into the E6 practice putting green. Some putts read perfect and many don't. I really hope this issue gets resolved.

TGC: Anyone that is beta testing TGC. Do you get the misreads pushing the ball right like in E6?

Remembert that E6 isn't out for full retail use yet. This is still a beta/demo version.

I'll tell you this though, E6 putts better than WGT. I'm a bit surprised, but I think E6 is a better option right now vs. WGT.

Ok, so do you think the putting inaccuracy is E6 software or Skytrak not reading the putting correctly? I would think the E6 demo would have the putting bugs worked out. Because I wouldn't buy E6 just based on the inaccuracy of the putting.

Those that are beta testing TGC with Skytrak. Do you get these big misreads with the ball pushing 4 or 5 inches right? How does putting on TGC compare to the E6 demo?

I haven't seen any misreads like this in e6 yet. All of the putts I have hit in the demo (my experience is limited to 1.5 rounds thus far) seemed right on the money in terms of left/right launch accuracy.

I did more testing on E6 and still reads putts 4 to 5 inches right on a lot of putts. However, tonight I played WGT and all the putts read very accurately. So not sure if there's an issue in E6 or not. But you say your putts are accurate in E6. I was hoping it was a bug in E6 that was causing the problem. That's why I wanted to hear from more people whether they had putting issues in E6 or not. But nobody is posting their results. So who knows. Hopefully soon I won't have to worry about it when TGC is released!

Putting is atrocious for me in E6. Most are 4+ degrees right with some showing backspin.
I didn't even bother trying putting in WGT since the chipping is also bad

Disagree. With an actual putting sensor, the path and speed are read perfectly. I quite enjoy putting on the simulator. It's just a different experience than real life. You need to putt based on the numbers (distance) and grid, not feel/perception.

I just updated to the latest update of ver. 1.6.16.1 in E6.

Putting is still terrible! Here's the video I said I would post of what I'm experiencing with Skytrak and E6 in regards to the inaccuracy.

Most all my putts push right 4 to 10 inches.

              See video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6IFicu_KkY

Is everyone else experiencing the same thing with E6? Can anyone post a video showing how your putts are accurate and go straight in E6?

This is exactly how it putts for me on E6 and WGT. Must be the ST.

Have you tried turning on the alignment dots to double check alignment.

Yes! I align my Skytrak at the beginning of each session. I align it with the green painted line in my turf. So everything is aligned perfectly. As you see in my video the putts should't be 10 inches right. Trying to understand if the issue is Skytrak hardware related or software related with the E6 demo.

Its not a shadow or lighting issue is it, just thinking of what differences people could have that would cause variations from person to person, other than A)defective unit or B)alignment, which hopefully A it isnt and B it isnt as youve set it up ok, leaves either the putter head, which from where your putting from i wouldnt have thought it be an issue, leaves either the ball (maybe logo in certain position will really work better with putting) or environmental such as lights and shadows. I know that shouldnt effect it but perhaps at these low distance and ball speeds its something to try. That would be crazing me

Yeah, I've tried testing many different things with moving the ball 12 inches back and then my putter head doesn't interfere. But still same result. I've tried different lighting. The weird thing is all my irons are 100% accurate. So that's why I don't think it's my Skytrak. I can only hope the issue is in the E6 software. Hoping to try TGC soon to find out!

What happens if you putt with one of your wedges and just blade the ball? If that works then use some black tape to cover the putter up all but the face.

Just for info, I have a GC2 and it will not work well with white tees or even if you had a white sticker on the shaft as the unit some times picked that up as a hit while you may have just been practice swinging. Not sure how the skytrak works and picks up other white object or reflections. I also have had some issues with the white headed clubs, but not always and when it does happen it throws some wild side spin numbers that alters the ball flight.

I tried many different things tonight and couldn't get the putting to work.

1 I bought some range balls with the big black stripe. I place the stripe down in different positions. Nothing worked.
2 I tried many different putters because I have a lot of putters that have failed me on the course. White, black, silver...Nothing worked.
3 I tried different lighting. Nothing worked.
4 I tried putting with a hybrid and wedges. I noticed that the misread frequency did drop a little. But not much.

Kind of funny that I can actually rely on the misread. I just aim to a point on my screen about a foot to the left from the intended line and I can make 3 or 4 in a row.

I noticed a guy said in a post that he did a firmware update and the misreads went away. I would like to know his firmware version and how he actually updated it.

Get the v2.0 app, and connect it to skytrak. It will automatically update firmware.

Good thought on the tape. So I just black taped my putter so it was solid black. I had the same results with pushing right. I tried the 3 iron hitting like a putt and same bad results.

Glad to hear someone else having same issue. Makes me hope its the software or possibly the firmware.

But I believe I have the latest firmware of 1.350. If you open the Skytrak App and go to About it should list the firmware version.

Yes, I would like to know if there is a way to manually install the firmware to the Skytrak. Because I never did anything. I think the firmware just auto updated when I installed the Skytrak PC beta software, when I plugged it in using USB connection to the PC.

Maybe I will uninstall the PC beta software and reinstall it and then connect Skytrak to it again. Not sure if that would do anything.

The people that say putting is accurate. What firmware version and Skytrak app version does it show you have when going to the About section in Skytrak app?
