  • Maybe the skytrak is right and we all just suck, look at these averages.

We have all been constantly been bitching on the shortness of our driving and woods. These are PGA TOUR AVERAGES.

Those guys hit the sweet spot almost every time. I swing a little faster than that and I will have some drives carry 250 and some carry 300. I figure that I can't hit the sweet spot nearly as often as the pros. Sometimes when I really miss the sweet spot, the drive carries only 210-220. With a 115 mph average speed ( trackman and golftown) 220 is really a bad hit. I have measured my swing as fast as 125 and at that speed, I hardly ever hit it well. My longest drive on the trackman ( I don't have one BTW) is 119 mph with a carry just over 300. This year I have hit on 4 different sims and they were all pretty close to each other. I have still to try a Skytrak. Anyone with one near Airdrie Alberta Canada?

@ SkyTrak I am glad you have time to laugh. I see that most of your time is taken up apologizing for Skytrak's LM.

In real life I shoot in the high 80's to mid 90's. Just because a guy can hit far doesn't mean that he's a great golfer. My worst round was 101 this year. So sadly I did not make the cut. So let me get this straight, you are clowning on me because I hit far. Do people clown on you because you don't? Not everyone hits it with their purse.

But not nearly as good as golfwrx players. Listening to them they should be playing courses at 9K plus yards.

At times I play terribly. You can see my scores on the TGC tournaments. My score in real life is almost 10 strokes higher than sim golf. My post was not boastful it was stating that the sweet spot has a whole lot to do distance. How can I swing the same speed and have one drive go 40 yards further than another. It's because I am not a pro and I have a hard time hitting the sweet spot. And no, If I swing slower, I don't hit it more often. I find that 114-118 hits the sweet spot as often as 100 for me. Next time, I will sandbag when discussing distance. That may make some people feel better.

Keither I hit average of 260-290. Average Swing Speed is 105-110mph. I'm not clowning, You just made it sound like your Rory. That's a great speed for having surgery or even without. I just wish they would update the driving and wood distances and get putting half way decent. Also wgt on multiplayer

I only get out 5-10 times a year. So I will have to live with some games in the 90's. I have only hit the sim hard since July as I had a shoulder injury that kept me from golfing for close to 2 years. So I probably average 110-118 on my drives and I hit 260-310. So Rcush what's wrong with that? I am interested in skytrak so I threw my 2 cents in since I have some experience with Foresight, Trackman, GSA. I find it odd that there is no adjustment on skytrak for distance. So what does a guy do, when he hits 300 in real life, but his sim shows 270 or 280 at the most? I would be pissed off too.

Ahhhhh no your not. We been butting heads since day 1. You have your theroy and I have mine. Anytime your in Alberta Canada. Please look me up. Would love to play some golf with yeah

And keithier you hit the nail on the head. Just because you can hit over 300 yards doesn't mean you should be on the tour.
Tour guys have more skill then hitting it over 300. There accurate with irons and deadly short game with some great putting

I am in Airdrie which is just outside of Calgary. Rcush, How did I make it sound like I am Rory?.... I hit the ball far, I also shoot the puck really hard. Does that make me sound like Crosby? And why are you mad bro? Hope you feel better soon, really.

Something to keep in mind is that some guys can hit it far and do have a carry of 280 yds or more but you also need a high swing speed to do it, like closer to 115 mph, and a ball speed in the 170's. So when someone says they do carry the ball in real life over 270 yds without wind and normal conditions, then I would tend to believe that it is possible. If you are talking total yards then that is harder to compare as roll is so different on every course. Also you need to take into account that if you swing 100mph at sea level and then do the same in Denver you will see more carry on drives in Denver due to the elevation. Airdrie and the Calgary area is higher than average so this also can account for longer distance in real life and thus seeing less in a sim.

Our area is around 3500 feet. I have golfed near the coast and didn't hit 300 yards that day. I have also golfed in Denver. You can add 10-15 yards on the irons and maybe 20-25 on the driver there. The pros will also increase their speed when they are swinging on a reachable par 4. They may average 113 but I am sure they kick it up a notch when hitting on a 350 yard par 4. I don't play for money so I kick it up a notch at all times. I don't get it why Skytrak does not have a scale adjust for speed. If your skytrak is not accurate why isn't there a simple fix? I have spent many trips from my sim to the driving range to verify my distance. I also have a few friends that know how far they hit each club. My system is bang on for distance relative to my area. In the fall in Canada, the fairways get a little harder as the temp drops. You can also add on 10-15 yards to your drives and even your lay up shots for that. My last round was a cold one, about 10 C or 50ish F. My longest drive of the year is usually in October.
