    SKYTRACK 1.350 latest firmware? - Nov 5/15

Hey guys, is 1.350 the newest firmware? I'm seeing some goofy numbers on the skytrak and am trying to figure out why.

average 5 iron: 160 yards, 5500 rpm backspin (can't remember launch angle) Real world avg: 180 ish
average 7 iron: 165 yards, 2200 rpm backspin (can't remember launch angle) Real world avg: 160 ish
average 8 iron: 160 yards, 2000 rpm backspin (can't remember launch angle) Real world avg: 150 ish

    something is fishy.

Also does the skytrak have to be at the same level as the ball when launching? Currently my matt is 3/4" of an inch higher than
where the skytrak sits on the carpet.

To your last Question, the Skytrak has to be same elevation as the hitting surface and level. Sitting on a carpet, depends on what type, can be fishy too. I had a few tries when I first got it and I noticed that it actually moved a little when I hit the ball. I had it sitting on a thick soft carpet so be careful with that.

Low backspin causing those higher than normal carries. The lower one I don't know, ball speed maybe.

Yep, that's the latest firmware. And yes, definitely raise the unit up level with the mat. Those back spin numbers don't seem right for the 7 and 8 iron. What type of balls are you using? Make sure to have some type of mark facing the unit.

I've seen similar numbers to yours beretta5spd with a seven iron and backspin in the low 2000s. I was using impact tape though. Don't suppose....?

no impact tape Harry. But I was using a very scuffed ball. I will experiment either today or tomorrow.

More for a FYI, if you are going to try a session and figure out back spin numbers just make sure you have cleaned your groves on your clubs. They may not look like they have anything on them but the ball skin does plug up groves and can make a huge difference. Also the type of ball of course so use the same ones throughout the testing.

Also for the mat skytrak level, when I go to the range I use an old opti skin that sits about 3/4" below the range mat.
I've never had any problems with readings. I also use yellow balls and they read just fine too. The only issue I ever have at the range is sunlight IR interfering with the camera's.

My max drive last night was 250 yards from 60 drives. launch angle was on average 14-15, ball spin 2400 rpm, ball speed 138. which all adds up in the flightscope optimizer app but in real life my average is probably 270 yards with 255 carry and max 290. I'm hoping that the 2.1 software gets it closer to realistic. i wouldn't be too bothered with the yardages other than my goal is to use the skytrak with TGC whenever that's released. SkyTrak_Seth I want to beta test lol

The update isn't going to change any of the measured data (ball speed, spin, launch angle) it is only going to change the flight algorithm by around 4%. I average 155-160 ball speeds on every launch monitor I've hit on. Track and flights opens included and I carry the ball in the 255-265 range. I don't think with ball speeds in the upper 130's is capable of a 255 yard carry.

Ok got ya. I wish I would have taken more data down but my 7 irons were 170-180 today. Averaging 15 yards longer than on the course. My 4 irons were averaging 5 yards shorter than the 7 iron shots. Something is sure fishy.

You using wgt or skytrak app? I've never used wgt but have heard the distances are inflated.

The update will not change anything about the way ball speed is measured...and hitting it much over 250 yds with 138 ball speed is going to be next to impossible.
