Seth thanks for response. Yes my thoughts were that shipping carrier might have mishandled units some how. Do scratches, marks on lens make a difference? I love the unit...really enjoying it especially now that it is hard for me to get out and practice having a 4 month old.

I wanted to post an update to this...I received my SkyTrak back after a couple weeks and according to them everything checked out well. I then updated to the latest software and firmware on my iPad and tested the unit out again. It still seems to be a good 10-15 yards short from what I see in real life on 7 iron - wedges. I have tried different balls as well but to get 15 more yards out of a ball with a wedge would be quite amazing. I'm guess it is the mat that I am hitting off of. I am currently using a Monster Tee golf turf mat. I like how the mat is soft and can hold a tee anywhere, however, I think it is really adding spin to my short irons and wedges causing them to come up short of what I see on the course. Has anyone else experienced a similar type of problem with this mat? Also, for those of you that feel the Skytrak is spot on - what type of mat are you currently using? I would obviously like the unit to read as close to my real life yardages as possible with all of my clubs, but don't have $700 in the budget right now to shell out for a high end mat. Is there something else out there that others have had good results with on the SkyTrak at a more affordable price?Comment

Best thing to do is to take it to the range to test it out. The same mat at the range should affect your distances on range as well as ST - if the distances at range matches w ST then it's a mat vs real grass problem and you know your unit is fine. -
I have that mat and don't like it for two reasons:
- if you catch the mat at all it really robs the distance
- too squishy for a solid swing.
- OK three reasons...your feet sink in a bit so you'll develop a swing fault to compensate for the ball being slightly higher than your feet all the time.
No need to buy a $700 mat. Why not buy a 1 ft x 2 ft piece of a good mat and make you own stance mat. -
I have the ultimate monster mat. Having it slow the club face if you're catching the mat first...is not such a bad thing. You can use that as feedback to work on hitting the ball cleaner and contacting the ball before turf.Last edited by N54TT; 12-21-2015, 04:35 AM.

Golf what spin numbers are you getting? Do a simple test for me. Hit 10 high wedge shots. 5 with only dimples facing the camera and 5 with a logo/line facing the camera. Post your ball stats for each set. Make sure all shots have a high decent launch angle, no thin shots.Comment

Bubba22 do you think logo facing cam is more accurate? If so, would drawing a line with sharpie on the blank sides of ball help with consistency?Comment

If your blaming the mat...hit some irons off a tee and compare.
If it makes you feel better, I also had this issue last night. I couldn't hit my 7 iron over 165 no matter how much I tried. I was really upset.....then I realized I was swinging my 8....then I was quite pleased.Comment

However I like the Country Club Elite alot better, as its firmer to stand on.
I have played several rounds of golf and had many outdoor range sessions since getting my skytrak, and I think skytrak's "short" numbers are actually fairly accurate for me. I think I just didnt really know my actual numbers with each club prior to getting skytrak.
