Skytrak and Hybrids shorter on ST

I actually was able to get out and play 18 holes here in Minnesota in December?.. that doesn't happen very often. Anyhow I was able to get some solid yardage measurements to compare to what I am getting on Skytrak. My short Irons PW-7 iron are dead on. I have the Adams Idea hybrid set which the 6-5-4-3 are larger headed hybrid cross clubs, with these I was getting about a 10-15 yard shorter on ST pretty consistently. wondering if anyone has these type of clubs and have experienced any of the same issues, if so any suggestions to fixing the problem. I wasn't able to check my fairway woods or driver, right now my ceiling isn't high enough to check those clubs. Would be interested in any suggestions or comments on this issue especially from Skytrak.

    Thanks

I would test these out on v2.1 software. While I say the ball flight fix is for "driver", it's actually shots with "driver-like" launch data, since we really don't care about the club. So a lower launch/spin combo from a hybrid may have a similar gain in distance most people will see with the driver tweak.

I do have the new 2.1 version, I also have a apple IOS version which also gives me similar readings, My Adams Idea pw wedge through 7 are conventional irons, but from 6 down the heads become gradually larger, just seems like the club itself is a issue being my conventional 7 and up are dead on.. strange issue but would be nice to have correct readings

Well the club really shouldn't have anything to do with it. All we measure is what the ball is doing. I'm guessing that your hybrids may produce a lower launch and spin than irons of the same number? Could be something we can look into with ball flight, but hybrids tested just fine against Trackman. Maybe you could post a shot or two of data and I could run it through Optimal Fight for comparison's sake?

I can do that. I'm at work but tonight I should be able to get some number for yo and see where I'm at, just strange that golfing yesterday my yardage was so different than what I'm getting off Skytrak. feeling like I was hitting them about the same.

How are the fairways at your course ? are they nice and soft so you can take a nice divot with your short irons or are the rock solid . I was playing on a course a few weeks ago which is a cheap, not well maintained course with rock solid fairways and I got a 40 yard roll out of my 3w. The course I usually play its hardly 20 if. My irons, especially the short ones had normal distance cause the don't have much of a roll either way. Just saying that has an big impact too.

this was a very nice course, the fairways were actually still somewhat green and soft, our temps over the last week her in Minnesota have been on the 40s all week so nothing has really had a chance to freeze. the shots I measured all seems to be pretty true to what I was even hitting in the fall, just the hybrids seemed off 10-15 yards shorter on Skytrak. I used the same balls on both also.

Jimsol, are you talking total distance again or did you somehow measure carry distance with your hybrids?

I think total distance. Which in theory yesterday as wet as the course was my carry distance should have been less but according to Skytrak hitting off the mat was 10-15 shorter than what I was getting outside yesterday.. I'm going to try the new pc 2.1.1 version now and see if there is any difference at all now knowing what readings I should be seeing from yesterday.

Temperature also affects longer shots more that shorter ones. Around 1% carry difference per 10* temp difference. That's not enough to account for 10 yards though. Difference between the 70* default setting on skytrak and 40* temp you played in would be about 3% change in carry. A normal 200 yard shot would only carry about 194.

I agree in that temp i would be hitting a little sorted but on the ST its set at 70 degrees so I should be hitting farther which in this case it opposite. Much longer outside shorter on the Sim..
