I know there was some conversation about this earlier in the forum but it was under the WGT topic. I've decided to start a new topic. I'm wondering if anybody has had any updates on filling the screen of a TV/projector when using screen mirroring over Airplay. I notice that anytime the iPad is mirroring over Airplay the screen doesn't get filled on my TV. Roughly 50% of the screen width is filled and 25% on each side is black. This is just an estimate. I've tried the Airplay's overscan correction as well as changing the Airplay's resolution. Nothing I've tried makes this better. To be clear, when using the Airplay's menu and other functions such as Netflix the screen is filled and in very clear 1080. As soon as I do screen mirroring the TV screen isn't filled and the clarity isn't nearly as good. Anybody have any advice? It's certainly frustrating as it isn't very clear on the TV. Any help is appreciated.

I have the same issue connecting my IPAD 2 Air with the adapter wire. Any help would be also be appreciated. -
It must have something to do with the app itself - maybe someone who develops apps can give some better information.
I have another app that I use and it does the same thing - but other functions are normal.Comment

Yes....the app dictates the display resolution. ST and WGT are 4:3 content. I compromised on my setup and placed my projector to where the 4:3 fills my screen (I.e. Further back) and if I watch Netflix, I just have to switch my projector to 4:3 vs the native 16:9. It works great!

This is all about aspect ratio. The iPad is 4:3 and you want a 16:9 display - this results in black bars. But, you say, sometimes it "works" - you get a 16:9 display from a 4:3 iPad. The reason for this is that there are actually two forms of Airplay. One is provided by iOS & the device itself - you mirror the device as is. The other is an implementation provided by the app developer. For that to work, that apps devs need to essentially build two sets of screens (4:3 for the iPad and 16:9 for mirroring).
So Skytrak would need to add code for this.
The easiest way to solve this is to use an iPhone 5+
