Using iphone as hotspot

As anyone had any success connecting their Skytrak to iPad in network mode using their iPhone as a hotspot. I have been unable to make this happen. I read on here somewhere that skytrak will only pick up a certain wifi frequency and I wonder if my iPhone hotspot is not using that frequency. Thank you for any help.

Has never worked for me though heard it might work w hotspot from android phones? Would be great if skytrak can make this work for iPhones as well.

I tried at the range a few times with my iphone and no luck. Granted though, that was back last summer.
