  • Be careful not to overdo it

Got my skytrak in September. At the time I had not played golf for 5 years. I bought it to get back into the game and actually try and improve.

I would hit a couple hundred shots a day, and quickly developed some sore muscles in my hands and back.

Being an idiot, I ignored the pain and played through it. My hands sorted themselves out, but my back remained sore. Around Xmas, one swing of a 5 iron took my back from being sore to being injured. Pulled a muscle or something, pretty bad. Havent been able to swing a club with any power since then. Finally went to a doctor last week, have to start Physical therapy for a few weeks and will be unable to golf for probably another 4 weeks. After already being unable to practice for the last 5-6 weeks, this sucks!

I did test out the 2.2 PC app this weekend, was able to take 75% swings with only a little pain. But I am gonna stop totally from now until the pain is 100% gone for fear of hurting it worse.

I picked up a Big Moss putting green to fill the time. I guess this will give me a month of hard-core putting practice.

Sorry to hear that. I experienced some aches and pains as well, as I was also getting back into golf. I definitely think proper stretching helps, as mentioned before on this forum sometimes with a sim it's just too easy to pick up a club and start hitting.

Also prob worth it to Invest in a good thick hitting mat that can take a divot like the Country Club Elite and consider getting graphite shafts if you're a little bit older and/or have had injuries.

I experienced similar pins and injuries when I began sim golf. I am 55 yo and fairly active. Golf however is very explosive when done well. After many visits to the chiropractor in the past couple of months, I have learned my lessons. Now I warm up with the Orange Whip trainer and use the moves in the youtube video below. 5 minutes is all it takes. I do not know the trainer but he has other exercises available on youtube specific for what "you " need. BTW, I just ordered graphite shafts last week to help out with the impact trauma on my old joints.

Do I need to put a warning in the app?

Probably, I go out there for 4 or 5 hours and swing until I can't walk the next day. Some type of language that states This may be habit forming!

Hey! Who do you think has to test all this stuff? Some days I can't get on the forum because I can't move my arms

No warning needed. People need to be sensible and warm-up a bit before smashing balls. The old mans issue will be stiff spinal erectors, piriformus, hamstrings and medial glutes. They get together to cause all sorts of issues, mostly to desk jockeys like myself. Learn a proper deadlift and side lunge as a minimum. Few reps few sets. The problem is that a strain weakens muscle and most of us don't then strengthen the injured area - I'm not saying that you personally don't already know.

Btw: I'm 55+ and understand that I need to work smart not hard. My .05 of a cent

I completely agree , just hitting a few hundred balls into my net for a few days running has given me a real sore lower back and I'm only 27 :0.

And I'm lifting decent at the gym my back is hardly weak.

Definitely need to do more warm up / stretches the golf swing is a unique movement which can be dangerous! Just look at the state on tiger!

I posted this up on another site recently but it is worth repeating. These warm up activities can be done standalone or pre workout. I wish that I had been doing these as long as I've been lifting.
There is also an Limber 11 which is a more extended version.
