Buying Skytrak in US and using overseas

I'm looking at buying the skytrak in US, but I would be using overseas in Hong Kong. Buying as a launch monitor and ultimately to use as a SIM as well.... With WG or TGC ( when available)

I am assuming that the hardware can be used anywhere around the world, and the warranty would be valid if any issues are addressed locally in US. ??

When using as a Sim and buying requisite software, it would also seem cheaper if buying in The US.... - is there any reason why I can not also buy the software in a US online store, and then use in another country?

And would there be any problems with software updates or playing online??

Appreciate any feedback, especially if you have experience of similar situation.

Mine was bought in US and used in UK, as are several others on the forum, with no issues. The PC software is universal, the Apple software (iPad app,etc) used to require an account on the US iTunes store. I don't know whether that's still the case, as I only use PC software now the PC version is out.

Exactly the same with me. Also never used the apple app again after I got the PC Version. Bought the St in the us and have been using it in the us and Germany so far.

just be aware of when you buy the GIP. Being in Australia, when I went to buy the GIP, Skygolf wouldn't let me pay for it (using PayPal) as my shipping address was Australia. Even though it is not physically shipped. The only way around it was that I had to use a friend's address in Pennsylvania. So he now gets the free golf magazines which were part of the GIP purchase deal at the time.. Other than that, I had to use another Apple Id for the Canadian itunes store to be able to download the App onto the ipad. Whenever updates come out, I just sign back in using the Canadian Appstore Apple Id I made up and I get the updates.

But the ipad updates aren't really an issue since I am now using the PC version of Skytrak on a laptop.

The PCs version of skytrak... Is that also ok to buy in the us ( if have a us address etc) but then can use anywhere and get all updates etc???


I guess the real test for me will be Online Sim software such as WHC or TGC.

Is it possible to buy skytrak from a bricks and mortar store as opposed to online.... As I am only in US for a few days and concerned online and postage may not arrive in time.

My friend was in U.S. buying a Skytrak for me but he stopped because said that the tension of the U.S. electric socket is different than mine (Italy). In U.S. they in fact have 110v while in Italy it is 220v (or something like that). Does anyone know anything about that? This issue makes really difference? My friend says that the Skytrsk would be useless herein Italy. Thanks again in advance

In Australia we use 240V, I just plug the USB cable to my computer to charge the Skytrak

Sounds ridiculous. Im no electrician but anything that fits into you outlets there that has a usb port would work. All you need is the usb to micro usb cord and its good to go. Unless 220v is too much for the skytrak to get charged with but wouldnt think so, but again im no electrician.

Yea it charges via usb also had my plugged into mains here in UK without issue

I hope that did not confuse Lawyer. The SkyTrak can't be plugged directly into the _mains_. The ONLY physical electrical connector the SkyTrak has is a micro USB. USB has a 5V (+ and ground) with two data line worldwide standard, as you probably know. I never charge mine through a wall outlet, because it picks up a charge through my PC. Your laptop's AC adapter can also probably be used worldwide, just change out the portion of the cable that goes from the transformer to the wall. i.e. if you can R&R the cable, the adapter allows roughly 100 - 240 volt AC inputs.

I did exactly that mate. Mine is US Skytrak and I use in the UK. No problems with app downloads or charging, I use Apple or Kindle chargers no problem at all. It's a yes to all your questions.
