  • Do you move your SkyTrak when playing a round in TGC?

I have the CCE mat and the driver tee is fixed in one of the holes. So to tee off, I end up moving my SkyTrak to point the laser there. For iron and putter, I then need to move it to a different place. I can always use a real tee on this mat, which I can remove after teeing off, but I was hoping if someone has a better solution (not sure how) where I don't have to my my Skytrak.

I do the same thing. Been thinking about how to solve. I built a protective wooden case using davray's lexan cutout pattern for the front panel. I'm thinking of building a base with a 6-inch rail so that the entire unit can slide back and forth (towards and away from the golfer). This way it could align to a fixed location for shots from a tee and then a quick pull with an iron would slide the skytrak and its laser dot towards you for shots off the mat.

Do you guys keep the skytrak on the CCE or off the mat? If so what thickness of board or whatever did you use?

I have it off the mat and have it raised using the skytrak case level screws.

I would never do this. Once I have the Skytrak aligned I don't want to mess with it. I just use a rubber tee sitting on the mat.

Do you need to keep looking for the tee after each driver? That's the only reason I have been using the fixed tee. It works really when I am hitting drivers on the range, but maybe it is easier to look for the tee than move stytrak when using TGC.

Same boat here, thinking having to walk up to the screen to pick the tee up is better than moving and having to align the ST after each drive.

Makes sense to use the portable tees versus moving the SkyTrak every time. I recall some users tried the same Tomahawk Neo tees that are used on The Golf Channel. Any pos/neg reviews on those tees with the SkyTrak?

I use the Tomahawk tees pretty successfully and didnt find they lit up too much. I also tried the fishing nylon but it ripped out after a couple drives (and I tried different lengths!) I also cut a couple since they only come in 2 heights. I plan to buy another pack since you don't get enough long ones.

paschmann I am going to try the same (just ordered from Amazon). Can you keep the fishing line long enough, so it really never pulls on the tee, but is there to just get it back and also it doesn't get lost?

ForeLeft - thats what I did (and had it long enough to even hit my net) but I guess the force was too much and maybe the driver actually catching some of it? still caused it to break. (Keep in mind the nylon did not break, it ripped out of the loop through the tee).

When I was researching my setup I ran across a company that sold a device that slid on a track for the GC2. I remember it said coming soon for Skytrak. I believe it was designed for the problem you are trying to solve - you would slide it forward for tee shots and then back for shots off of the mat. I can't find the link I saved but will look again. Posting in case this jogs anyone else's memory.

          Found it here: http://premierdivotactionsimulator.c...me_better_.htm

Is pretty expensive. I think I will just pick up my tee

That's it. I never noticed the price - that is crazy expensive for what is probably a very simple device to manufacture!

I have had success hitting the ball about an inch and a bit further away from the unit than the red dot. Perhaps that could work for you on non tee shots?

Personally I use the rubber driving range tees though, so don't face the same problem.

I'm planning on doing this very thing. If it's built correctly, you would not have to re-align anything. The unit would just slide for and aft, no tilting and always follow the target line.

Also, i have the tomahawk tee and use a claw tee with it, never chase a tee again. I've used it for quite some time now and the elastic cord hasn't broken and neither has the tee. If you play in a dimly lit room, when the laser hits the tee, it is bright, like one of those bigger xmas bulbs. I will try to take a pic tonight of both.

I use the tomahawk tees - prior to that I was moving my unit. I definitely prefer the tomahawk tees to moving the unit!

For any tee shots up through my 3 wood, I just use a plastic cap from a water bottle. The really small ones are the perfect height for irons and hybrids. The thicker ones like you get off a soda bottle are good for my 3 wood.

Here is the tee setup that I use, tomahawk tee that is tethered to a claw tee.

Here is the tomahawk tee with the laser hitting it with minimal ambient light in the room.

What kind of thread are you using to tether? Strong enough that it doesn't break easily?

It's the lanyard that comes with the claw tee. It stretches so there's very little stress on the tomahawk tee. Nothing has broken yet and i've been using them for awhile now.

Whoa, bottom of the unit needs to be level with the surface of the mat. Even for driver. That's way too high!

Are you talking about mine? If so, the bottom of the unit is exactly level with the top of the mat. Hence the need for a book. Mat is over 2" thick.

It must be a trick of the angle then, to someone not seeing your set up in person that photo makes it look like the unit is way higher than the mat.

I see, it looks like the green may be even with the gray surface, but it's not, it's actually sitting on top?
