  • ST long term review

So, you always see threads on bugs or poor service, but no many on encouraging results.

I bought my ST in September and immediately stopped my index 2 strokes within a few weeks. Over the winter, I spent a lot of time on the ST range working on my ball striking. I have gained over 30 yards optimizing my driver with the same swing speed. I was able to use ST to first get my launch angle up to 15deg from 10. I used the ST feedback to adjust my ball position, tee height and club adjustment. I am now launching at 15deg with around 1900 rpm. Over the past week, I worked on increasing ball speed using ST and foot spray to adjust my impact location on the face. I found that hitting below the center is better on my driver and I gained 4-5 mph in two days. All in all, I am over the moon with my ST as a training tool.

Today, I hit on a GC2 for comparison and the numbers were nearly identical. I only have a swing speed of 100-103 and I smacked a few over 280 total and one over 290 (265 carry) on GC2. I also compared my ST to a flightscope indoors and my ST was always within 1 yard carry and had no misreads when flight scope had several.

Now, obviously we waited way too long for a sim package, but now I am extremely happy with TGC. In Q school, I find my yardage extremely realistic unlike the generous e6. I am even reaching par 5s in two. Putting and chipping are terrific and better than any simulator I have previously played.

So, if you are on the fence after reading this forum....don't be. As a sim or training aid it will be the best money you will ever spend.

The only downside is the soreness your body will feel.

I've had my ST since late November, and today I played my first outdoor round of the new year. With temps in the 50s and wind speed over 20 mph, I just had my best initial round ever following a winter lay-off - and that's thanks to the ST. I was only able to play 9 holes, but I hit 6 out of 7 fairways off the tee and 8 out of 9 greens in regulation. I shot 2 over par, which would be good for me even in mid-season, and my score would have been even better if the greens hadn't been so slow and bumpy. The thing I noticed most today was that my overall ball striking was really good for the start of the season. Using the ST has shown me that the most important factor in maximizing distance with either woods or irons is to hit the sweet spot of the club face. That sounds like common sense, but the ST gives me the actual data regarding how much a difference that makes. And it makes a really big difference!

Obviously, I still do hit some bad shots despite my improved ball striking, but I'm really looking forward to the 2016 golf season.

What area of the country are you in? I played in the exact same conditions yesterday outside Chicago. Shot an 81 with below average putting. Considering I've only broke 80 twice in my life, I was very happy with the ball striking.

SwingHarder, I'm in Iowa. Our weather usually heads your way after it's finished with us.

I haven't had mine for a month yet and have still been in the process of getting my garage setup done. Hopefully I will have the projector and all ready this week. That said, I have been using my ST and the ball striking results I have been getting is exactly what I get on the course. I haven't gotten too in depth with the numbers yet, but once I get everything setup (including TGC) I really think its going to help my game in a big way. I think it is a perfect device to use during the off season and only wish I got it earlier, but I will use it as much as I can until it gets to warm to where my garage is not tolerable to hit balls in. So far, it has worked great for me. A few shots have not been detected, but for $2000 (in the world of golf simulators where big $$$ ticket items are the norm) I think its an incredible bargain.

I agree, I have had mine since April, I have dropped my Hcp from a 16 to a 12. I have been very frustrated over the past year with Skygolf, but a lot of the issues are getting worked out. I am a fan, and I think it's going to get better. Seth has been great! You can tell he really cares about Skytrak and has done an outstanding job with his support on this forum. For the the price, there is nothing better out there.

Your's is also slightly below center....check out here.

Yesterday we gave you a primer on driver Center of Gravity. Today we're going to take things a step further. We're going to step away from the marketing, the buzzwords, and the catch phrases. We're going to show you reality. We're going to show you the actual center of gravity locations for 19 of most popular drivers of 2015. Whose CG is the lowest? Whose CG is the farthest back? Whose CG locations are so high they're nearly off the chart? Does anyone actually offer low spin with forgiveness? We have the answers.

Also had my skytrak setup since early winter. Very happy with its performance, especially since the the 2.2 update, the practice greens are great and the sync issues are gone. Only using the skytrak app and wgt for now, but enjoying the setup as is. Hitting soo many balls that i am wearing through the impact netting. Also just purchased the country club elite mat, very pleased with this as well but it was expensive to get in canada.

The skytrak rocks. I dialed in my wedge game and really tightened up my dispersion. I was really looking forward to 2016 then i added skypro. I have ST ipad to tv and skypro on another ipad. I thought i had a very good swing til i bought skypro. So I'm rebuilding a swing and its very difficult on the brain. For me to get a 3/1 swing tempo and flatter on the down swing and not go past parallel well i might just as well buy a lottery ticket!

Just out of curiosity... If you improved your dispersion and dialed in your wedges using only ball data, then why did you feel the need to re-build your swing based on what Skypro says? If my balls are going straight and consistent, I could care less what my swing looks like. If my Skytrak said the balls were going straight, and Skypro said there's something off about my swing, I'd listen to the Skytrak and throw away the Skypro. To me, the only thing that matters is where the ball ends up.

I'm just trying to get better and in order to do so ive taken a few steps back temporarily. I absolutely love the game and find it very elusive. I'm always looking to get better. SkyPro revealed to me a few things. My swing gets long past parallel, tempo is too quick and I was slightly coming over the top. My back swing was on a flatter plane than my down swing. The steep swing was giving me too steep of an attack angle and the long swing was leading to shaft direction getting inside at the top. Ive worked out the swing plane already and now I'm working on tempo and swing length. The swing plane took 6 hours and there is no way I could do it without the skypro. The skypro is awesome. Its like having a coach there with instant feedback. Ive learned more with it in 2 weeks than over all my years of playing added together. Ultimately I too care about where the ball ends up just looking to get better always room for improvement.

Is that 7 or 8 iron? If 7 that's a nice high launch and pretty good spin. If 8 then your spin is on the lower side and decent launch angle.

Its a 7 iron. That's all the speed I can generate right now. Too many thoughts/ swing changes. It has been a very difficult transition. Once I can just swing and not think, I'm hoping I can get it back to 155-160 carry.

A little more ball speed and you'll be where you wanting. I spend a lot of time on distance control. Try to keep 13 yard gap between all clubs. My 7 is my 153 yard club. My skytrak and bending vise has really let me dial in my yardages. I have 3 sets of irons and use different lofts with each.

First Post on the forum. I love my Skytrak and play so much I won't even mention how many holes per day. Definitely improving, and continually working on my setup for Skytrak and TGC. Right now, I have a 14.5 x 8.5 foot impact screen and my BenQ 1080ST fills up the entire screen with TGC. Look forward to updates and improvements from Skytrak!

I played outdoors this weekend and I couldn't believe my drives. I was consistently further than the guys that I usually play with (~50 yds) and further than guys that are usually way out of my range. Now, with some work on my partial wedge shots and short game and I will be quite competitive. I had irons in (in 2) on a few par 5s which is completely new for me. ST worked some magic over the winter!

Awesome to hear goodmatt78. I was chasing your ghost ball all around the last round at Valspar. Was 1 stroke behind you for the last 5 holes but just couldn't close the gap. Nice playing.

Thanks...It was either the 2nd or 3rd round that I missed about every green left. Those greens were tiny and fast!

I too am quite happy with my SkyTrak and my Game Tracker. The only problem now is that my left shoulder feels wrenched, can't lift my arm. That's what golf three times per week plus range work plus SkyTrak plus trying simulator software will get you! Well, maybe a hidden tree root or grass covered rock got me without notice. Bought the TGC game and trying to play around with it but I can't actually hit a ball...the shoulder. My game has improved measurably with SkyTrak as given by some great shots with all clubs, several birdies, lots more pars and winning money bets...lots more fun negotiating strokes! Just gotta love this forum topic!

If you're going to practice that much, you better make sure you have graphite shafts that can take some of the strain off your body.

              Hope your shoulder recovers soon!!!

Well hell, spent two hours getting SkyTrak to sync to internet...a new wireless endpoint fed by Ethernet through house wiring...and all my damn fault (mostly)...capslock to enter the name of the wireless...and well, forgot that again and again as entering the password that was all lower case. SkyTrak man, you could make the password visible, thank you! But then, Oh my lord! I ran through all of e6, JNPG and TGC...they just popped up as desired. So happy! I felt most comfortable with e6 even though it was the first time I played it and played only two holes of Bay Hill...par for the first hole and a triple for the second, a par three tricky. I liked the putting, it seemed to match my speed with what you see...no twenty feet short or past. However, I have not seen a way to call up putter mode from off the green, hence the triple score trying to chip from the fringe...you can blame me and the simulator. You have a choice for putt targeting...you can get an a break target or the pin target. Graphics looked pretty much as good as the other simulators, however I have not seen a way to change the resolution, etc. As the TrueGolf e6 guy got me going remotely yesterday, I saw he opened lots of text files and sometimes made changes...so I will investigate all these text files! Then I resumed a round on JNPG and made a couple more triples, a double par (a ten on a par 5), but finally, a bogey (yea!). JNPG is the one that seems to have grain programmed into it but you can't see it...so a twenty foot putt could die halfway or run past twenty feet...and off the green and into the trap (oh jeez!). I found TGC to be least tolerable, although it looks cool and after being frustrated on a few holes I then called up putting mode to go through what looked like six feet of light rough, plus two feet of fringe then twenty feet of downhill fast break...and ended up six inches from the hole (yea again! just like real life sometimes happens).
