    Direct Mode in v2.3

SkyTrak_Seth / Seth, after upgrading to v2.3, can't seem to get wifi signal from the SkyTrak unit in order to connect using Direct Mode? I tried resetting the unit a couple of times and each time after resetting, if I try to connect using Direct Mode the wifi signal from SkyTrak will show up and I'm able to connect using Direct Mode. However once I connect using Network Mode (by re-entering my network credentials), I can never connect in Direct Mode again - as if I try to connect using Direct Mode, the wifi signal from the unit never shows up again?

Is this supposed to be the case (i.e., as long as unit can connect using Network Mode it will not allow you to connect using Direct Mode)? And if I take unit outside (i.e., to range) and it cannot connect using Network Mode then it will allow me connect using Direct Mode (and the wifi signal from the unit will show up again)?

Thanks for your help in advance...

I think I answered this somewhere else already, but I just came across this and will answer again just so others can see and be clear on how it works.

So the unit comes out of the box in "direct mode'. Once you set it up in network mode (ie type in your credentials) the unit will remain in network mode until one of the following occurs:

    1) You go outside your network range - the unit will try to find your network and when it can't it will revert to direct mode
    2) You connect in the app in network mode and then go to 'device connections' and choose direct mode - the unit will reboot in direct mode

After each of the above, you will then see the unit show up in the WiFi list on your iPad. But in the case of #1, even if you use it in direct mode at the range, when you return home the unit will connect to your network again. #2 will make the unit boot up in direct mode from then on (as does hard-resetting the unit - same thing)

And remember - if the unit is in network mode (you can tell this by the middle light being yellow when the app is closed), you will not see it listed in your WiFi list.

Thanks. But somehow since upgrading to app v2.3 (and firmware v1.5), can't seem to get #2 above to work?

"You go outside your network range - the unit will try to find your network and when it can't it will revert to direct mode"

I did not know that, good to know!
Working...
