Charging Cable Connector Type/Connecting via USB

I'd like to get a longer cable to connect the ST to my laptop. The cable which came with the unit has a male USB A type connector on one end for connecting to a computer but I'm unsure what the plug type is which inserts into the ST itself - perhaps a Micro USB B? I tried a USB Mini-B 5-pin, which does not fit.

Also, this may be moot as I have been unable to connect via USB lately. The connection is just not recognized any more, although I am able to connect using wi-fi. Not sure if this is related to connection issues mentioned recently by others in a different thread.
