  • SkyTrak + WGT Tournament - Pinehurst No. 2

Guys, just a heads up. There is currently a WGT tournament going on for SkyTrak users on the front 9 of Pinehurst No. 2. Free to enter. Unlimited play. Runs through the end of April. I have faith in you guys that someone from our office will not remain at the top of the leaderboard

I shot a 44, pretty good for a couple putt misreads.

I think your better off not putting. Just take the automatic 3 putt IMO. Oh and don't short side yourself or you will chip over the green frustrating. Does anybody have any tips for soft chips?

The ball flight algorithms that TGC is using is causing the overdraw...the hardware is just sending what's measured. That's why you'll see different carries/offline numbers between TGC, Skytrak app...PG...Protee 2.0....etc.

goatbarn, I thought I remember reading somewhere that the algorithm is going to be fixed in the next release of TGC. As far as you know is that correct?

This is the first I've heard of over exaggerating hooks. Are you talking about ball flight or draw spin measurement? WGT, TGC, SkyTrak, TruGolf, PG all use their own ball flight model.

Do you need to have the WGT subscription for this, or can you play this if you just have the GIP package?

Wow that's amazing! How did you get your approach shots to stick to those greens? Forget about my approach shot - it takes me 3-4 chips back and forth just to chip onto those greens...

This course is exceedingly frustrating. The spin off the greens is just so excessive. I am a plus 1 hdcp and my best 9 is 42. I would shoot high 40's or even 50's if I played out all of my rounds. If real golf was like this I would quit. Let's get a better course set up for the next tournament.

My hdcp last year ranged 2-5 not plus and I managed 38. I don't putt. It's just gir. Hit an extra club play to the middle and you should wreck it. Merian has a cool par 3 where the only way for me to get it close is to take 2 extra clubs taking the spin off to get it to the back. Control your trajectory and spin and you will be closer to par than the rest of us. I hear you frustrating for sure. I bet that is exactly what it's like in real life. Maybe someday I will find out.

I will agree that it's frustrating, but only because it's realistic. I'm only about an hour from the course...those greens are crowned. I went back and forth too many times to count...just like real life.

Yeah but when ST fails to register something like 8 consecutive perfectly hit soft chips/flops against a tight pin, and then when you skull one it registers it alright all the way off the green into bunker on other side. At that moment you really want to kick your ST (holding off only because you know it's a $2k machine)...
            Working...
