Congrats bigred. You will love it I am sure. Once you get setup, go here (http://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum/...or/online-play) and join the online TGC tour. Playing against others on the simulator adds just enough tension to really feel like a real-life round of golf.

I love Skytrak/TGC (and might learn to love PG...still not that happy with it but its OK).

Before Sept 2015 when i got skytrak, my lifetime average score (in real-life) was 100. After practicing hard since September, this year I have shot under 90 three times, including an 86 today (my best round ever, on a 130 slope course). I had three 3-putts, and 2 lost balls today and a few other mistakes, and still shot great. I believe sub-80 is possible for me now, I would have never believed that without all the skytrak practice.

Wow, that is some great improvement. Good job! I have seen some big improvement on a great many players here. Part of it is learning the software, but it's nice to see some real life improvement as well.

That's really awesome to hear! I have only had my SkyTrak less than a month, but after a couple weeks with it (only using the range) I have seen noticeable improvement in my accuracy on the course. I can't wait to see what my game is like in a few months!

I've had TGC for skytrak from the day it was released. I've used it almost everyday since. I expected to play a variety of courses and mostly ignore the tour. I was completely wrong. All I do now is practice for the tournaments and play the tournament rounds on the weekends when my kids finally go to bed. TGC has beat expectations handily. Looking forward to making the PG comparison next week.

Absolutely love Skytrak and TGC. The first time I played Augusta was a complete buzz. My outdoor ball striking is so much farther along because I have been hitting balls all winter. Fantastic investment that I feel fortunate to have.

This is amazing, guys. I envy you so much. As far as I am concerned, I have the money, the floor space. Only one tiny little detail is killing the project : I live in an appartment and the ceiling height is at exactly 2.5m / 8ft 2in

I tried to swing a club recently and the ceiling comes into play very quickly

The one time in life it pays to be short. I have 8' ceilings as well and can swing all irons comfortably. I do hit my 3 wood but my ceiling looks like a firing range. Won't even think about driver.

Where you located Professor? Maybe you can hook up with a nearby Sim user. Another option is knocking out some ceil drywall, its cheap and easy enough to repair.

moadhia I am 5'7". I have my hitting matt embedded into my house carpet and I play in flip flops. Just enough room to hit most shots.

Using the skytrak isn't the issue - it's staying away from it. I've had mine for a couple months but have screwed up my ribs by playing it way too much. I'm trying to stay away from it now to heal. I hope I have the strength - because when I use it when I'm wounded - my ribs feel better. Later though - it hurts like hell and I have a hard time sleeping. This thing is more addictive than smoking in my opinion.

I feel your pain JJ...had the skytrak for around a week and pulled a muscle in my chest(serratus anterior muscle) after hitting probably 200 too many in one session...I have played sports all my life and never overworked myself like this before..feels like I have a broken rib. Going on 3 1/2 weeks and I can still feel it. Just trying not to start playing before it heals is the hardest thing.

I'm still a newbie compared to several on this site but I have tried my Skytrak with WGT, TGC and PG. I did purchase TGC and PG and at this point TGC will be the software that I will be using the most.

To me it seems TGC to be the most realistic when being used as a simulator. The graphics are way better than WGT and PG plus really like the way the Protee / TGC tech support has been more than happy to assist with my questions and future enhancement recommendations.

I have been wavering between JNPG and TGC, but what I have read in this thread (and your response especially) I think I am going to purchase TGC in the next few weeks. I got back into golf a few years ago after 25 years away. I forgot pretty much everything, and developed bad habits at the range. I ripped cartilage in my rib cage 3 times in 18 months, and popped a rib out of place once because I was swinging way too hard trying to recapture lost yardage. Each injury cost me a minimum of 4 weeks away from the game. In the long run I found that swinging slower gave me more distance and less injuries.

I'm a newbie but dIscovering the same thing here. Without having the shot history data starring you in face it's hard to discover many of the little things that generate improvement. The discovery and improvement potential alone makes the SkyTrak purchase worth the investment. I have TGC but havent really used it yet as I have working the range feature pretty hard.

I really don't think you can go wrong with a Skytrak and TGC. It's a great way to get practice and have fun. I do recommend buying a full metal jacket to protect it though!!!

I based my laptop purchase for Skytrak on the requirements for TGC. I have a HP Pavilion with the following specs:
Intel Core i7-6700HQ quad-core processor 2.6GHz (with Max Turbo Speed of 3.5GHz), 6MB Cache
16GB DDR4 SDRAM system memory
1TB SATA hard drive and 128GB SSD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M Graphics With 4GB of dedicated graphics memory

I think my video card may be a little less than the recommended, but I think I should still be able to play TGC without issue...I hope!

Lgnir you should really consider bumping the video card up to a 6gb version of the GTX1060 and you will be golden at full 1080p resolution otherwise you will need to run TGC at a much lower resolution or the game will become very choppy.

Well so far I have been running it in 1920 X 1080, high quality, non windowed mode, and I have not noticed any choppiness in it. Graphics look pretty darn good too!

I've used mine every night since I got it a week ago. I'm on the fence about a sim game, leaning towards TGC but really don't want to pay 900 would prefer 100 courses for 400 one time fee. IF anyone is watching...

Hey Sledge0001, I know I figure it out when I finally purchase TGC, but I was wondering how the tour works. Is it handicapped or set for different skill levels? How does it actually work? (i.e. how many rounds you have to play, do you play alone or with someone online, etc.) I'd appreciate any info you can give on this.

You have a few options with the tour.

Most of them are 2 rounds with major events having 3 rounds. You can play by yourself or join up in a head to head match if you choose.

#1 You can go through their "Q School" and that will provide you with a handicap based on your scoring or....
#2 You jump right in with a 0 handicap and the system will adjust based on your scoring.

The tour does have 2 winners 1 with the lowest score and 1 with the handicap adjusted score which levels the playing field regardless of your skills.

For me I jumped right in and figured it's just a great way to see how you are doing against others.

I got my SkyTrak 3 weeks ago and mostly finished my Sim room in my garage in the past few weeks. I can't get enough of the SkyTrak and I only have WGT right now. There's not enough hours in the day to be honest. I want to get TGC, but I'm already 4k in with my set up so TGC will have to wait. I'd rather my game in a better place anyway, but cannot wait to play multi player and possibly the tour once I do get TGC! If TGC ever goes on sale again, I may just have to take the plunge and get a new computer. Enjoy guys!
