    New skytrak user advice needed

Finally got most of my sim setup and was using skytrak today for the first time and everything seems 20 yards short of normal and all over my clubs have verified yardages from gps.

Any tips on what I may be doing wrong?

    Hi.
Probably nothing! You are Indoor which affects your swing more than you can imagine. Over time your yardage will be longer as you start to swing "longer".
The mat is really important since thick hits are punished hard (more than a thick fairway hit)
I assume the spin rate is normal.
    Keep on hitting!

I echo nicklas. When I got my skytrak I thought the distance was off but I just wasn't truly comfortable hitting inside. Give it some time.

your probably correct. I was worrying about hitting my garage door opener and that issue is getting corrected today. It is getting raised to 10ft which will put it out of reach along with the tracks.

My distances are pretty much normal since I addressed the garage door issue.

I'm playing with a cce mat at the moment and while it is nice I'm finding fat shots to be a little over punishing.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

This is going to sound much too simple but give it a shot. I also found that I was hitting it a bit fat. All I did was choke up on the club 1/8-1/4 of an inch. Made a world of difference. My outdoor distance came back immediately.

I know from personal experience that it'll teach you not to hit as many fat shots...

I agree with TorchRedRob 100%. Over time your ball striking will improve.

I switched from a CCE mat recently to a Custom Golf Design Divot action mat, my distances weren't really any different but the Divot action Mat is way less punishing on my elbow. I noticed after about 2000 swings in a week that my elbow was pretty sore with the CCE. I swapped it out for a divot action and I love it, elbow feels great, same amount of golf as before. Also, I noticed the launch angles and distances are the same if not slightly more consistent than the CCE. Highly recommend divot action and John was great to deal with.

Hey v10king. Did you by chance purchase the sand action insert? I've been looking out for a review. They look like pretty decent mats. I currently have the CCE.

I got the 4x5 stance mat with 12x24 divot action fairway insert. I got it with the tee insert which is nice.

Hi, I am having same issue... Whereby I am about 20 yards or more below what I can hit.

I haven't had chance to test skytrak at the range, but at Scottsdale range I was recording 140 on 9 iron with Trackman, against 110-120 in the cage with skytrak.

I hear every one saying it's just because inside, and perhaps swing is inhibited... But I have been hitting as well and as hard as normal. I have just got a rukkit sports mat, and will soon have a CCE to test on.... Will let you know if it improves, but definitely reading way short of where it should be at the moment

The reason everyone is saying this is because the issue comes up over and over again and more often than not it's proven the skytrak is reading correctly. Until you take the unit outside to verify, you have no idea whether or not it's the skytrak or you.

I have seen my distances go back to normal as soon as I addressed the garage door opener being potentially in the way. I was always worried I would hit it. Now that I have raised it I can swing freely without fear.

The one thing I haven't made a decision on is the cce mat. If you even hit the ball ever so slightly fat, and I mean so slightly that you thought it was a good strike, this may severely punishes your distance.

I don't think that is very realistic at all. Usually a fat shot for me on the course comes up a club maybe a club and a half short at worst. With this mat, it is like 4 clubs!
