I know this has been discussed, but humor me - notebook PC users for TGC?

## starting this thread because scrolling through the forums yielded more conjecture than clear answers to this question... please show me some grace ##

Desktop simply isnt an option for me as I just wouldnt setup and tear down over and over... needs to be a notebook PC.

Who is having success with a notebook PC and TGC, what is your HW config, your TGC video settings, and what is your experience like?

Ready to buy, just not spend $$$ on spec in hopes that it works. Happy to follow those that have led and are having success.

I just went through this a bought a Asus rog 752jt with Windows 8, i7 and a 970m gpu. The lowest fps I've seen using fraps is 47 fps and this is at tgc recommended settings. I'm usually around 50 fps.

So yes you can do it but would get at a minimum a 970m or even a 980m gpu.

If you have the notebook already then buy the game first on steam for 35 bucks or so... try it out and see how it looks and plays. I believe you can get a full refund no questions asked if you play it less than an hour. That should be enough to tell if your laptop is up to the task.

Thanks Rayce. My desired plan would be to run bootcamp on a retina macbook pro with bootcamp to a windows partition, and will wait for the upcoming macbook pro refresh (hopefully with a beefier gfx solution). Giving it a try like this is a great idea.

I ran it on a macbook pro 2015 model with ATI 370x GPU and it was playable. 1600x1200, medium settings, 30+ fps.

Best option is to buy on steam, test it, return it.

I bought a laptop just for TGC. My setup is in a none insulated garage so I have to put it up and take it down every time. A desktop was not an option for me either. Now it's "only" skytrak, projector and Laptop that goes up and down every time. I got a Schenker XMG P505-3ED PRO with a 980m . Not the cheapest solution but it works great.

I have a Lenovo Y50 with i7 and 860m card. Didn't break the bank and runs everything just fine on 1080p with details turned down a little.

I know that MSI makes a few great gaming laptops that will run TGC without much of an issue. Newegg.com has deals on them once in a while.

Runs flawlessly on my Alienware laptop. Cost a few bucks but able to use for my business as well so easier to swallow.

Can you let me know what your specs are... particularly your GPU and GPU memory amount, CPU and system memory?

I-7 2.7ghz. 16 meg memory. GPU is GTX 980M. I think GPU memory is an 8. Alienware I17 R3. Was the cadillac at the time I purchased it 6 months ago, probably a Yugo now.
