    putting and bunkers with Skytrak

I have been using Skytrak exclusively for range practice using the Windows software. I do not see a putter club selection, and when I tried a few putts with no club selection none of the putts registered.
For you guys who do simulation, how do you do putts? And how do simulators reproduce the challenges of bunker shots?

For skytrak app there is no "putting mode" that the simulator softwares and all have in it that you would need to read the putts well. My guess is because while the putting mode will read short chips and all, it doesn't seem to read all the spin numbers perfectly yet (skytrak sounds like they may be working on a new SDK that will address this) and while a putting mode would read putts, maybe they don't see the need for it and may not be accurate enough for them to feel the need to include it in the official app (even though I feel it works very well on TGC). My guess is for the app they are just sticking with what they know works very well and very accurately with normal shots and pitch shots down to like the 20ish yard range. Once they do updates to the sdk id be very curious as to what they come out with after that.

As for the bunkers, its not really any additional challenge other then what the sim software puts into to. For example: in TGC there is a 50% penalty on distance and some penalty on spin from 40 or 50 yards and in

So, if I understand correctly, the Skytrak device is capable of reading putts, and does so in the simulator software, but does not have that capability in the native software?

Yes on the simulator part. And Im sure it probably could read it in the skytrak app but they decide not to activate the "putting mode" within it for whatever reason. My only guess is they dont see it as accurate enough to include, dont see the value in adding it to really help someone improve putting, the short chips part isnt perfect yet.....or maybe they are working on it now and will implement it in the future, no one knows for sure but the SkyTrak_Seth guys

The reason we haven't turned it on in our app is that we haven't modeled a green surface yet. Doesn't make sense to putt on the driving range It's coming, just has been of lower priority given the nature of simulated putting.

Very cool!!! ^^^^^ I realize there are limitations with the current hardware, but it sounds like there is some room for improvement, whether through firmware or software updates... Hopefully the short game stuff just gets more & more dialed in! Thanks for the updates sir!!!

Yes agree - glad to see SkyTrak getting better and better w more and more features (and most bugs worked out).

SkyTrak_Seth / Seth, please don't forget my humble suggestion for a simple putting app from a while back (http://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum/...=1463719246442). Thanks =)

For sure! That's exactly where we are heading. I don't want to get into any contouring in our app, I'll leave that to the sim guys.
