SkyTrak on grass at the range

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding the use of SkyTrak at the driving range, in particular on a grass tee : I understand that, for accuracy purposes you need to align the ball as close as possible to the laser dot. However, as you're working your swing, you create divots and need to change the lie of the ball for every shot.

As a result, you can only be on the laser dot for one shot then need to move the SkyTrak to a new position so the dot gets set on turf, not in the divot anymore.

Am I making the right assumption here ? Is SkyTrak usable on grass ? Or is it just not practical ?

Additional question : would a GC2 do a better job ?

I've yet to try it out on natural turf, however I would think you could get 3-5 shots in from the same spot before you have to move depending on how large your divot is. If you take a larger divot I don't think that would be possible.

Yeah, kind of what you said. It works ok off a grass tee box, but you do need to keep moving the unit to avoid hitting out of your divot. More practical with a driver for sure.

Don't think it's practical. Also, i believe the GC2 does better with grass and it also has a larger FOV. But it comes at a price.
