  • Connection issue with pc app

I know every post of mine is crying about something and the majority of the stuff where mistakes by me but in need help...just purchased PG and i cant for the life of me get PG or skytrak app on my PC to connect to my skytraks. Ive tried everything suggestion that i have found (or at least understood) and spent and hour and a half with skygolf tech support with still no resolution. Skytrak and wgt work fine on ipad and i even pulled out an old laptop (under graphiced, i5, windows 7) and it would connect to app after i downloaded it ( didnt try to load PG on it cux its so old). PG works on new PC (i7, windows 10 new install and gtx1080)), but with mouse not skytraks. tried usb (see skytraks almost as a drive) but wont connect. tried direct, network, reset and unistall everything, Any help would be great

If the skytrak hooks up to ipad app and wgt just fine in network mode, would you really need to hard reset skytrak to sync with skytrak pc app? Not that i didnt try both ways to get it to sync with skytrak pc app and still doesnt work. i swear it has to be some stupid setting on the pc that i dont know about. by the way i did disable all firewalls in windows defender an tried it like that as well and it didnt work.

Ok, so let's just start with the SkyTrak app:

      1) Connects on iPad

      2) Connects on your old laptop

      3) Does not connect on your Windows 10 computer either with USB or Wi-Fi

The last part is puzzling. If it was only USB that was the problem, I would say it was the driver. (by the way, what shows up in the device manager when you turn on SkyTrak with it plugged in via USB?) The fact that it doesn't connect using direct mode makes me wonder if the white "powered by Rapsodo" splash screen is not coming at all when you launch the software. If it does not, then you need to install this:

Thank you so much! I actually did that right before your response and now it work!!!! You are the man! Hour with support couldnt figure out what you did in 5 seconds!
What is wrong if the SkyTrak PC app states "Not Connected" on Windows 10?

This normally occurs because the "Rapsodo" splash/log is not being displayed when you open the SkyTrak PC App. In order to get the "Rapsodo" splash/logo to appear you have to install MicroSoft Visual 2010 on your computer. So, If you have downloaded the SkyTrak PC App and have your SkyTrak connected via the USB cable and the app shows "Not Connected" please follow the steps below.

        1. CLICK HERE to install MicroSoft Visual 2010.

        2. Once you have downloaded MicroSoft Visual 2010 then go back to the SkyTrak App and open it. It should state that it is looking for connection. Then, after a few seconds the app should state that it is connected. At that point, you can then proceed to connect the SkyTrak in either Direct or Network Mode.

            I too had this issue.

Despite being the owner of a software company (and writing software every day), I found the SkyTrak initial install very frustrating.

Window 10 comes with Visual Studio runtimes 2012 and 2013.

Who would have thought to install the 2010 runtime? Not me.

I eventually found this thread by searching on Google and bingo - it worked.

The software should check for the presence of the runtime and issue a warning if it is not installed. This is really simple stuff.

              Ditto!
I just got my new SkyTrak and had the exact same issue last night trying to connect to a Surface Pro 3. I had to dig through this forum to find the solution. How is this not in the manual or set up guides? Very frustrating. Such a simple fix.

That check was in there, but something weird happened with Windows 10 where it doesn't prompt anymore (I'm assuming we need to specifically check for 2010 now). Thanks for bringing it back to my attention. I'll make sure it gets resolved.

I’m am having the same issue expreniced by op above. SkyTrak connected for the last few months to my pc with windows 10 through usb but I updated to the latest 3.2.2 and now the app won’t connect to the SkyTrak. It is not trying to connect and I can’t use usb or direct. I re downloaded the app but that didn’t work. I re downloaded the above windows visual studio 2010 but that has not worked either. The rapsodo screen does not splash before the software loads.
Any idea on what I can try next?

I called support and they fixed the issue for me. You need to download the 2012 visual from Microsoft not the 2010 version above. Just an FYI if someone else runs into the issue.

Hi guys. Just came across this old thread and sounds like the problem I am having now. What version of Microsoft Visual should I download? Cheers

I think I'm having the same issue. Network connect just doesn't work on Windows 11. Any advice would be amazing!

The only thing I would recommend is dump Win 11 and go back to Win 10. You never want to be upgrading to the newest technology until it is fully tested on all units (both hardware and software) and working. See if there is a way to 'Revert' back to Win 10?
                          Working...
